If you're getting checkerboarding (I just made that a verb) it's because one or more of the pipelines you enabled is damaged. There's no way to fix it. That's the risk you take when you buy a 9500np and hope to mod it.

If you use rage 3d tweak thing it has the setting to disable it. Check it out.

i tried it it didn't work

i move the hardware acceleration down from full and now it does not have the checkerboard effect during regular use only in games, 3dmark, and etc.

Yeah the reason it was ever even dubbed to be a 9500 was because it failed as a 9700, there is a reason those pipelines don't work correctly.

how bad are the checkers? I heard one guy says he only gets them in 32 bit, in 16 bit gaming there not present. another guy was only getting it in some games and a third guys checkers were so faint he could just sit back and ignore em and game on!

"Triplex Millenium Silver geforce4 ti4200 64mb 3.3ns 310.5/661.5"

man you gotta teach me the v mods to get those insane clocks, I had the exact one that did 300/590 without mods but I sold it and got this abit siluro that does 290/600 might need to sell again and hope the next card ocs higher or mod mine or buy one already modded :D

a softmod is just a driver tweak right?

so if you go back to a normal driver, does the checkerboard go away?

or is it permanant?

Softmod is just a driver tweak, that is correct.
If you re-install drivers without tweaked file it should go away.
