I have now 9600GT....I can get :

GIGABYTE NV 9800GT 1Gb GV-N98TOC-1GI
GIGABYTE NV 9800GT 512Mb GV-N98TOC-512H

which is actually better?
ASUS ATI 4850 GLACIATOR EAH4850/HTDI/512M
ASUS ATI 4850 GLACIATOR EAH4850/HTDI/1G
ASUS ATI 4870 EAH4870/HTDI/512M
GIGABYTE ATI 4850 HD GV-R485OC-1GH

as of now i would say the 9800gt 1GB thats clocked the highest since the g80 dosnt get drivers anymore. but in the normal price range of those (atleast int he US) there are the 4850, 4770 and 5750 all of which are noticeably faster

ASUS ATI 4870 EAH4870/HTDI/512M is the best compare to the other card. And the price has fall waaaaaaaaay down...
