Man, how in the hell do you get that fast? I have been playing with the RWIN number all day! I have yet to find the magic setting! What did you do so different with DrTCP? (I know we have different connections)

it is called having a satellite internet! and I am stock - my AMD is dead right now I am running on the Dell computer - no tweaks for speed here!
So that's without the tweaks from DrTCP!

Your satellite connection must be better than the rest! In the Best Buy ad today, they were advertising satellite to be up to 7 times faster than 56K! You must have the Superman Connection!

You're right! I didn't think of that! They mentioned something along those lines about weather, and it had to be pointing in the southwestern part of the sky.

there is a sat service that works anywhere in the world and you connect via a sat in space orbiting the earth.... not me!

You should've seen it! It was running so slow! I tested many times with the same results! (I even printed them out to show the R.R. people. LOL)
Afterwards, I check other places with better results!

Mine 2800+ down, 100+ up :(
I use testmyspeed.com(gives close servers) and dslreports.com (both). I seem to like testmyspeed better because it give me a verbose option. Upload is first indicator of problem usually caused by ingress. Poor install.

upload was sat based also - no phone line required... if so then my iup would never break 53.3 as that is the max perfectly possible on standard dialup
I run cox highspeed now

Damn shray those are quick down/up speeds! What do you mean by WINXP tweaks?
Peckers
05-03-2003, 07:54 AM
tweaks?, please tell us :)
XP reserves 20%(default) of the bandwith that is used by OS for networktrafic and Internet with the service QoS, this to reserve bandwith for prioritized services.
to change this run gpedit.msc, select konfiguration - Administrative Template - QoS Packet Scheduler. choose properties for ”limit reservable bandwidth” and enable this funktion, set value to 0(null)
then restart your computa.
For me it didn't make much difference(~2-3%maybe, but my benching results fluktuates quite alot so i'm not sure). Some ppl say this gives them a significant performance increse so i belive it depends on what type of connection you're using. Others say it shouldn't make any difference, anyone who knows how this really works? :)
