Has anyone on XS installed a SSD on the PS3 ?
If so what are the speed differences ? ex: installing, loading and saving.
I've found some videos in the internet but they're somewhat outdated.

Tried many configs and with load times etc difference is negligible between 5400rpm, 7200 rpm and SSD...

Would be a real waste to do this, more useful for a PC.

SSD on PS3 is useful only with games you have downloaded, cause they are entirely loaded from the PS3.
But if you only have Blu-Ray disc based games, prefer the 5400rpm disc (7200rpm would warm up the PS3, and wouldn't be better).

but what about heat coming from a traditional HDD compared to heat from an SSD? i know the hdd in my ps3 is pretty hot. on second thought maybe when SSDs are way more affordable it might be worth it.

Hi there,
I haven't got any ideas, but I was wondering if you ever got a solution
as I would like to do the same thing. Cheers!

Been proven time and time again that the HD speed doesn't make much difference on the PS3. The Blu-ray drive is the slowest component in the PS3.

The optical is always going to be slower than the hard disk media. Like someone said earlier, unless you are playing something entirely off the HDD you won't see a game performance difference. It may speed up boot time but I doubt it really matters, it doesn't take very long to boot.

If i had more money than i did time, i'd definitely do this.

Unless you buy a 256Gbs to load your games from the SSD, is not worth it.
