I've run into a bit of a problem with my build.

I have a TJ07 with a triple roof mod, and I was gonna use a Swiftech MCR320 up there. I was under the impression it would not interfere with the mobo but obviously it did.

Now I have 2 different options, use these fans instead of the GT's I was going with:

http://www.chilledpc.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?cPath=75_89&products_id=1215

or change the MCR for this rad:

http://www.chilledpc.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?cPath=41_100&products_id=261

Both will give me about 5mm more room which SHOULD solve my problem.

Which option would you go with?

This rad will only cool one GTX 285 but would still like as much cooling power as possible for possible future upgrades.

Here are a few pics to show the problem:

The radiator touches the closer set of pins.

Sry for the quality on some of them.

Does switching the fans to a push configuration help? Might get it close enough that you just need to cut some of the plastic off the fan housing.

Good idea, but unfortunately the fans are holding the rad in place. With this mounting method the fans are the ones that get attached, no way to attach the rad without drilling in the case.

If you get the slim fans, you could probably do a push/pull config as well.

That might be possible yea. Would probably depend on how much the power switch connector and so on stick out from the mobo as that is among the pins that the rad is now touching.

Bend the pins . . .

and use some heatshrink to isolate them

The simplest solution its allways the best ;)

Although the best option is to mount the fans in push configuration and mount the rad to the top of the case

Or instead of rad on top, with fans in push in the case, put the fans on top with the rad in the case. That way you don't have to drill entry/exit holes for the rad inlet and outlet. You need to have more clearance than to just barely fit the MB in there anyway. Buying another rad seems to be an unnecessary step to me.

Haha, should've known someone would say that:)

Bending the pins won't actually help as the rad will still touch the FDD port coming after the pins.

Why would I need more clearance than just getting it in there?

This picture will explain more in the regard of having fans or rad outside the case:

EDIT:

This thread was mostly to give me a idea of which would cool better,

MCR320 with slim Yate Loons or

Black Ice 360 GTS with GT's?

Haven't found a review of the MCR vs the GTS yet.

I would go for MCR + slim yates..

How about skipping the idea of the rad in the top alltogether?

The TJ-07 has plenty of room in the bottomsection to place one or 2 rads.

Here is how i did mine:

Yea, well as I'm going for two loops I'd need 2 rads. And I wanted two x triple rad to be on the safe side.

Here is how it is looking now:

Someone was in need of attention

The space beside the PA is saved for a fan controller and the space behind the PA was intended for storing HDD's but will have to see how this works out

Thanks laursi, almost missed your post. Will have to get some slim Yate Loons a try I think. I will just have to hook them up to the fan controller to keep them quiet.

Slim yates arrived and did exactly what was needed.

Here are a few shots of how it turned out:
