Windows XP SP3, Gigabyte Radeon HD 5850, Catalyst v9.10, UT3 Patch 2.1

I had no problems with previous card (Geforce GTX 260). Could somebody confirm these issues or I had problem elsewhere?

Well since its XP what comes to mind is running driver cleaner maybe?
How long does it take to freeze?

I tried almost everything (driver sweeper, hw OpenAL -> off, hw physics -> off...) and I'm near to conclusion it does not work.

Crashing (freeze) is inevitable, let say 10min-20min of play and u r out. In most cases I could kill stuck process, but sometimes only reset helps. Some maps quickly provoke the problem, deck is a good example.

you checked ur rails? ( which i doubt, as 750w is plenty of power )

fresh install maybe?

might just be the game itself. granted the guy is talking about 8.7 ( BETA ) drivers and a 4850. food for thought

PSU is out of question. Fresh install, I think, would not help. I found other complaints too.

So did you ever find out what was the problem?

Well imo, not reinstalling windows after switching GFX brands on a XP machine is asking for trouble :p:

I mostly agree. However he said he ran driver cleaners and properly uninstalled previous drivers so one would think your bases were covered if in fact that was done correctly.

Unfortunately I didn't found out real cause. I blame drivers as much as ut3 executable for poor compatibilty with 5800 generation. Some UT3 players told me that they had similar isues with previous generation ATi products too.

Interesting. I haven't reinstalled UT3 since I went from 7800GTX SLI to HD 48xx. However I was quite curious how my performance would be. Hopefully I won't run into any issues such as you did.
