hey guys, I'm to get an intel setup pretty soon. I was looking at the 2.26B and the Iwill P4R533-N, though it has limited overclocking. it as well as other 850s top off at 156 FSB. my question is, does anyone know of a RDram 1066 usable 850 board with 533 FSB cpu capabilities that will not top at 156..... or know where I can get a different bios for the p4R533-N.

The limitation is imposed by the onboard ICS 9250-37 clock generator. I don't think there will be a bios fix for that. You should be able run at 2.8 GHZ rock solid..not shabby.

also not good. the CPU will scale much farther passed that when I use my TEC/water system a friend is going to fund for me, and I'm wanting to take full use of the 1066 RDram. so is there no 850 that can scale passed 156?

Not that I know of...but I AM AN AMD GUY...so I could be wrong. Intel 850E boards need a good PC800-A RDRAM so they can be run at PC1066 mode to get the best performance out of them to get your monies worth.

Like I said..I am an AMD guy and could be wrong. Most of the guys here are AMD, but there are several Intel users..so maybe they can confirm or dispute this?

Frankly, I like the idea of getting comparable performance cheaper and have been stricly AMD for the last 5 years.

Also you might want to research the Abit IT7 ....I know next to nothing about it yet.
