Price range 150 to 200, I want a nice set of cans for music games etc... I don't know if I really want to go the open air route, cause I don't want others to hear what I'm hearing so suggest away. Brand don't matter, but I want something eye catching and unqiue, comfy and of course have to sound good.

Just stick to brands.. Sennheiser, AKG, Denon and Beyerdynamic are fine. Mine Sennheiser HD 555 cost around 150 USD (price converted from my currency).. and for that price they are very very good.. Tough, its more for music than gaming, but capable of both. AKG should have better "3D effect".. Iīm not much familiar with rest..

Yea and one thing.. donīt care about looks.. cause look doesnīt play music. :D

I can't recommend the BeyerDynamic DT770's enough. They are great phones for the price. They are closed and block out a good amount of noise and have great bass. The mids on this phones are little flat and the bass can over-saturate the sound at times but over all they are great. Ive been using them for about a year and am extremely happy with them.

Thanks to all who have contributed suggestions. I looked at the BD's and they look very comfy, the denons and others are nice too so I think i might try a set of BD's this time. I always just had those walmart 40 dollar sony head phones so this should be a treat.

Agreed, the SR60's are well worth their $70 price point.

So.. I went to music store today.. tested some Beyerdynamics.. DT-770, I was disappointed.. not worthy that price tag. They had some AKG too, not bad, but definetly not great ergonomics.. Best feel was HD 595, which is practicaly same as HD 555, maybe tiny bit clearer sound. Simply.. Sennheiser rulz.

Iīm thinking now about AKG-701, but it will take some time when I get one for testing. :) Seems that only brand I can really recommand now, is Sennheiser.

Man I'm jealous only way I can test these is when I buy it lol. So what aspect were you disapointed with the BD 770? Did you try out any grados?

+1 For Grado's

Give me some aspects of why +1 for grados, cause I have no place to go to listen or try them around here.

The 60's have razor sharp mids, sparkling highs and natural lows, very good for the price.
The 80's have a similar sound with more detail and more bass.

I have the 80's myself, though i don't use them much anymore and am happy with them.

Not everybody likes the same sound so i recommend you go and hear some for yourself and see if they suit your tastes.

Buy a pair online that takes returns and use them as a basepoint for your shopping to compare sound while keeping in mind they will sound better after break in time.

He did mention something better without even trying. The AKG 701/702 appeal to more listeners during A Vs. B shoot outs. I liked the DT 770 Pro 80's better than the Sennheisser 595 but would easily take the AKG 70x over either of these. AKG's are easily more accurate and can go from the Studio to Gaming with ease. Doesn't mean the other suck but just not as good!

I can ever see a need for buying Grados until I've almost lost my hearing and need something to over emphasized sounds in the mid and high ranges. They sound almost like Cheap Piezo Tweeters. Yes each person hears differently and some even have hearing loss and have to overcome that problem. I love my DT 770's and traded a set of Senheiser 595 that were what I though was over rated. Next set of ears might have done the opposite. There is no best in this case.

BD 770 cost too much, sound not that much. :) Simply.. they donīt sound good enough for their price level.. not mentioning that they really arenīt comfortable.

That apply for me, it can pretty much vary from each person, cause there are "Sennheiser" persons (me) and "Beyerdynamic" persons. :D Tough, AKG 701 suits probably all.. :)

Grados. :D Thats just personal joke from their maker.. supposed to be "best cans" .. they are hardly average.. but priced like high-end. :D Same apply for that amp from Grado.. its just fake high-end.. nothing more.

Another problem is, that for me, they didnīt have good enough aperature to run such cans.. I would need to go to another city, to check better ones.. some day maybe. :) But anyway Iīll just get higher end Senns or AKG701. :D

my list of headphones ranked 1 hd800/HE-5>d7000s>beyer dt880600ohm>hd600>hd650>akg702>hfi-780>ad-700s . lowend grados fail imo. d7000s have best bass. hd800/he-5 in same place b/c he-5 is 800$ less and sounds better alot of the time.

Comparing Grado headphones to cheap piezo tweeters ?

The SR60s and SR80s have been the best selling headphones for 10 + years now for a reason and i doubt its because they sound like crap.

NO, I said they over emphasized highs **like*** Piezo Tweeter. BTW, all Piezo Tweeters don't suck! "They sound almost like Cheap Piezo Tweeters". I like Warm Highs, not Bright or Hot highs!
I paid a little over $150 for my DT 770 Pro and would easily buy them again if given a do over. Current US price is $169 with Free Shipping! New cans EBay.

The reason I don't go to Head-Fi.

lthough I still think these headphones are terrible they did improve drastically(sonics wise) in the short time I have had them. The pair I gave to a reviewer have not impressed him mightily either.I also find if difficult to concieve that anyone would ever, in a proper state of mind, pay $200.00 for for these headphones.Maybe in Canadian dollars or perhaps Monopoly money. While it is entirely possible I may have judged these phones harshly at first listen,I stand by my assement of the lack of quality construction of these phones.Since Blighty has chosen to compare these phones to those costing $200.00 it is only fair to continue on that path.I make this statement as a response to this review only. These headphones are not worth anywhere near $200.00.If you pay a dime more than $105.00 US delivered to your door,by a naked, horny delivery girl, you are paying too much. These phones are a nice novelty item at best to me.

Honestly I think the Blighty guy was dead on! I thought these cans fell right between the Senheisser 595 and 600 overall. Paid $78.50 US Dolars for mine, 89 euros after 10% VAT. I only bought the DT 770 Pro 80's because the HP 890's were too heavy for prolonged use and recording my Bass Guitar. They are the best Gaming cans I've tried out of at least 80 pair From Denon 5000 to whatever. Speaking of which, I'd take the AKG 701/2 over the Denon 2000's as well.

Gosh I wish some review would connect any of the higher Ohm Cans to an Ole School Carver, Harmon Kardon, Marantz, Nakamichi and Phase Lenear. Most of these will KILL the little toy Headphone Amps!:ROTF: Amazing what I $75 to $200 will get cha (you)!
