is this an error in bios or is the cpu running that hot?

I'm installing OS now and it does seem sluggish(throttling??)

what a nightmare this is becoming!!!
ICH5R I couldn't get working right

wasted about 12 hours on this so far :(

The prommy temp is 81c? Or the CPU?

If its the cpu, is the prommie mounted correctly?

sensors are wacky. i have the same problem with my epox boards. both read 81c. doesnt bother me though. who really cares as long as your stable :)

I dunno, i would find the culprit causing it. if not i'd get a temp probe on there with an LCD display right on the 5/25 bay like one of these:

http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/tmp-02.html?id=y8GPvCeJ

http://www.subzerotech.com/index/module/sz_reviews_display/id/8

Hell if the mobo's sensors are that whacked out, i'd go with one of the probes to be safe.

if your evap temps are in the -20 - -30's under load your perfectly fine. the chip is frozen, theres no need to worry about anything.

with it being cold out now my evap temps stay in the low -40's under load...

The Epox 865/875 series can't read temperatures under 0c. If your motherboard reads 80-84c, it actually works perfectly.

Both are completely useless, neither can read anything under 0c. Not ANY probe resistance based can read under 0c.

Edit : The Compunurse one notes that it can be used down to -40c . It might be using an active sensor, not resistance based. I'm not really aware of it.
