Hello, which card should I get for my brother PC, he is not heavy gamer and we have limited budget.
I have seen some reviews for the GTX260 S.O.C and appears that it beats the GTX275 and come close to the GTX285, it is also cheaper. What do you guys think about this card?

I was waiting for someone else to respond as i dont know the 275 from personal experience, but i can say the 260 is a nice card. I got a superclocked and then clocked it up to the SSC without any trouble. So if you want to save a little more you could do that, just make sure you get a core 216!

the core 216's are monstrous cards, if you clock them properly, and overclock like hell, they will beat most of the market

I have the GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked edition and have had mixed results with overclocking. Granted, it came to me clocked higher than the standard 260. Also, try to get the 55nm hardware, it should help reduce heat a bit. If you are going to overclock, take it slow, benchmark ofter, and test it in normal use. My card would do great on the 3DVantage benchmark but crash during gaming, just have fun with it. Oh, and I'd say just go for the 260. The price is worth it.

I've been running FAH on the Gb.'s 260 S.O.@710/1600/1300
for about a week now -so far so good.
That's not even the limit I don't think, also the manual
mentions Gigabyte 275 S.O. - so maybe get that one?

Everyone's talking about OC abilities, but I'd guess that you probably don't care (I may be wrong).
If he's not a heavy gamer and you're on a budget, get whichever one is cheaper. A GTX260 should satisfy most "non-heavy-gamers" needs for a while (especially with average sized monitors). You can get them pretty cheap used, and once in a while, deals pop up as low as $125 brand new.

Get GTX275 with a decent cooler. Do a mild overclock, and you have a similiar performance like GTX285
