late november, early december, or whenever GT300 is released

or AMD is really going under the Radar and they'll get it out this week or next like rumoured, however I doubt it.

It has been a while since ATi had anything remotely as dominating as the 5870. The chips are getting smaller and smaller, and thats the key to these cards. ATI has always used smaller chips than nVidia, and now the experience in the nano technology has paid off. ATI should 'milk' the 5870s, it makes sense, especially in this economy. ATI has always seemed like the budget brand (compared to nVidia). I would think that they would have a second round of production, on the 5870s and then come out later, like Helloworld said, when nVidia answers with it's competitor to the 5870.

Do you guys think there's any chance of a HD5850 2GB?

Perhaps for an eyefinity model. Not sure why you would need a 2 GB 5850 otherwise :)

I agree, it mostly not very necessary since you don't really want to game higher
than 1900 x 1200 resolution with a 5850

Today I agree, but not tomorrow ;)

I doubt it, the drop at 2560x1600 vs the 5870 compared to all the other resolutions (using the 5850) is big enough to show that the extra GB would make much difference as it really needs those extra 160 shaders.

It would be interesting to know how a 5870 x2 performs, espacially under cold. And i saw some pictures that the 5870x2 need only a 8pin and 6pin PciE power connector, aren't there 2* 5870 chips under the case ? thx for help anyway

enabling high AA and AF will eat up memory and so will everything else i the frame buffer. my next card will have greater than 1GB for sure. rv870 is begging for more memory.
