View Full Version : Poll: G300 release date?

Some are thinking that Fermi release will be like R600 when ATI made their biggest mistake so far. But at the Nvidias current position they will give their best effort to hurry G300 to market. Delays there might be, but we can only guess how long it will take. So take a guess and comments are welcome. And please post exact day and year if you like to comment so the winner would be easier to pick!

Winner will be announced as soon as first G300 is in the hands of us (bought from the retailstore -online or not).

My personal guess is pretty pessimistic, but I see it's nowhere near possible to bring it to 2009. I will guess they announce in sometime december that there will be 2months delay (then release date will be early march). Then in late february, they will announce another delay which brings the release to early summer. So my guess is June 1st, 2010.

Right, I think Dec is being very optimistic. (although i would love to be proved wrong!) And on the flip side, if it doesn't come out till this time next year, NVIDIA is in serious trouble, but i think that's a long shot.

I voted for sept 2010, because there isn't a "never" option.
And I'm not an ATI fanboy, more a nVidia one (I only got GeForce since my first GeForce 2 MX to my last 8800GTX).
But I don't believe anymore in nVidia "way it's meant to be made". Card renaiming (is that an english word ? I'm not sure ^^), then this rumor about Fermi (which we didn't see anything by now). That's quite disappointing.

Haha... I voted for December 2009. That's the right vote for Nvidia if they still want to sell something these days because all I see from them is "End Of Life". :D

Still waiting for my replacement EVGA GTX 285 Hydro Copper but I think that I won't see it anymore. :yepp:

I say paperwars in December but retail availability somewhere mid January. It's a shame it will most likely go to at least 2010 before we see this card in any store as I had expected a few cards to become available late november/early december a few months ago but now it clearly looks like that won't happen. It's interesting to see many people here expects February, for nvidia that would be a very bad thing if was delayed that bad, I really see they "have to" make it for 18~25th January no matter what.

They lost me with all the crap they've been doing lately.

there is no logical reason to think the card will launch in a year. they have working silicon right now and A2 revision will be back in december. there is no way that it would take another year for the card to come out. thats just being foolish. this poll is pure speculation and fanboys want the card to fail. others would take a guess based on rumors which is dec-feb. personally i would like to see the card out as soon as possible so i can upgrade sooner.

not liking has nothing to do with when the card will launch. fermi was demoed at gtc if you didnt notice.

With or without the wooden screws?
There is nothing wrong with voting for September 2010 or
any other date that the person feel is appropriate.

Their vote,their pick.
I would be very, very surprised to see a retail
GT300/Fermi card before end of this year.Somewhere around
mid February to early March is my guess.
Have to check in with Charly for a more precise date:rofl: :p:

You're talking about the card nobody saw at GTC and Jensen said it was full of ugly wires ? (refering to Fudzilla : http://www.fudzilla.com/content/view/15798/1/)
Pix or it didn't exist I'd say :D

More seriously, I'll be the happiest man in the world if nVidia gets Fermi out in november, but it's hard to believe :/

Edit : I didn't got it at that time, but FahMan may be Jensen... Making big results and putting them on the internet, saying it's Fermi but not showing it xD

paper launch mid november. real wide availability somewhere early March. i hope that i'm wrong but they need at least 10 weeks to get some pile of chips since that september mockery.

So first very limited ones will hit the stores before Christmas but real availability much later. Something like R600 but that was a card no one buy except few enthusiastic people until big price drops when HD2900 Pro flavor hit shelves few weeks before HD3800 was presented.

why? they still need to produce waste amount of these big chips to have real offering and thats when it looking at that on simple way twice as hard as fr ATi produce it's chip. And then moreover that binning is pita.

I'd say some time in March, probably late March, maybe June or July if they do an A3 revision

I voted December 2009 and that his because I believe this Halloween announcement that eVGA plan to make is NOT some hack job G92b + 275GTX it is instead going to be unveiling their GT300 based products. Other manufacturers will announce their products during the next week.
We will then see a gradual launch throughout November and some shops will have them in December. However Early 2010 will see general availability for the public.
FYI The Radeon 5800 series is still a pseudo paper launch in the UK as only a few cards appeared and they have all sold out.....
I see GT300 being the same thing December 2009 launch, but early 2010 for general availability

I heard from someone recently whom claims to have spoken to some Nvidia reps about it that they're having no issues with yields, everything in the 300 line will be DX11 capable, and that units somewhere in that line will be coming as early as Dec '09. What do I REALLY think? Hard to say because A) there are too many fail rumors, though spun mostly by the ATI biased, B) a salesman at one of my local stores carrying lots of Nvidia stock (whom you'd think wouldn't be ATI biased), is saying they're being told yields are not good, and C) though there's no real proof of design concept yet, Nvidia do not appear to be verifying there's problems.

For Nvidia to stand up to the HPC industry and all their gaming customers and insist Fermi is on schedule as planned with no problems if there are in fact the horrendous yields some claim, they would be certainly setting themselves up for disaster. Personally I think they're smarter than that.

April or May. By that time ATI will have a refresh waiting or some huge price drops to counter the 300.

I've voted for January 2010 (paper) launch.
I won't be getting Fermi this turn because it's already too late, but if nVidia will come with something amazing for good price then I'm definitely going to try it later.

Sooner thy launch better for all of us nVidia and AMD supporters.

I will guess Feb - March but given Nvidia's launch time frame history, March is seemingly more likely. (March and October have received the most new products historically it seems, however October is obviously out of the question... )

So have you non-believers heard about the release of 380 and 360 cards on the 27th?

Wait for them, it's true apparently ;)

I take a quick survey of this thread so far and find something not so surprising: those members who are currently using ATI card as listed in their signature think G300 will come at a later date (Jan and after) while those who are using nVidia cards believe G300 will come in either Nov or Dec.

I'll say January 2010 sounds more realistic. Seriously, NVIDIA should just cut the crap already and start announcing more further information, so far, we haven't heard much. What are they waiting for, for ATI to kick their ass again?
