I've downloaded MJ12 and made an account but I don't know how to join the XS team. Can someone help me with this?

Ok, so I was wondering about some "tweaks" you can do to MJ12.
This is my internet connection, can you recommend me some settings?

Set it to 200 workers under options-crawler, and around 40-60 open url buckets. Set it to 100% bandwidth under options -connection and pull it up to around 10-11 mbit download.....upload as high as possible..you will have plenty room for yourself...unless you want to game..

Check - use fixed chunk - under options-crawler, and check - no delay between uploads.....just on the top of my head, so ask again if you need more, or have a look at This thread (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=149972)

@Mekoa

If you are using your primary rig for MJ12, I would really like to know how many % does your wolfdale E8400 use when archiving ?

Thanks

Ill have to check it bud. Normally run WCG alongside overnight and during day when Im at work.
Will monitor it later on assuming I catch it archiving!

Not sure what i set the priority too either. Possibly below normal?

Its set to Below Normal and it just used between 30-40% CPU when archiving for all 3 passes.

Edit: forgot, thats with just MJ12 running, no WCG.

Thanks Mekoa....mine is using 90-97%

My point is that our CPUs are the same in watt at 100 % 65 w tdp, but i'm using over the double in power. So even if i used a newer better CPU with higher w tdp, i would use less power when archiving.

K ...better upgrade, when money come my way......

Double? Ouchies :(

E8400 aint too bad these days. Ive been thinking of upgrading slash going back to AMD. New phenoms aint bad, plus the price of phenom 965BE with Crosshair III vs i7 and x58 mobo is well... rather hefty!

As said the overall % of the w tdp used, is more important than the w tdp possible. I don't know about the AMD, but aren't they too high in w tdp, so that you will have an equation where you need to look at

65 w tdp 30-40 % e8400
125 w tdp 20-30 % AMD

Ill need to do some math I guess.

Problem at the moment is definetely budget. Need to get maximum bang for my buck.

Cant see to justify spending £410 on an i7 940 either :(

3 things I look at when buying :

Total Power use :As low as possible
Efficiency : as high as possible according to power use
Money : Low

And those things lead me to next time

4770 (5750 if prices allow )
