Need to know if I can fold with tri-SLI GTX285's

i read about it in one of their whitepapers. they used all 3 gpu's for one WU. they got a 2.3x speedup.

Oh that's sounds sweet...

But wouldn't it be better to do 3 WUs at a time than a single unit 2.3x as fast?

Dak, you have the hardware give it a try (tri-sli that is) Gonna be the guinea-pig instead of the goose for a day?

I have read of a few doing it successfully on their forums.

k, the cards set up for SLI, but they run 3 separate cores while folding. Isn't GPUGRID smart enuf to know they are all linked. When I bench, they are indeed in SLI mode.

should you have SLI enabled for it? i dont know if cuda uses sli or recognizes it.

I have run tri-sli already on 2 machines. its still the same, but I do not know too much. I basically did it to save on monitor cables. I do not know if it reduces pwr consumption or anything else though.

Even with tri-SLI enabled, it processes as 3 separate cores:(

Yes sir, unless there is something I do not kow. <<<this is very possible since I come here for help from you guys:ROTF:

Right now I am running only 2 gpu's per rig and 1 rig has 1 gpu. They all run the same; SLi, not SLi, 2 cards, 3 cards, 1 card; it doesn't matter. The only benefit I can see is 1 cable to the monitor and possibly a little help on power consumption.

I will have to see how the next few days go, but I am running 4 rigs with 2 gpu'sand 1 with 1. From my calculation I am losing a total of 13k ppd from the multiple gpu rigs  :(.

I guess 13K loss from 8 gpu,s really is not too bad at all:shrug:. I know I have been messing around lately, so it might not be as dramatic and it really depends on the day.

Before I went through my rig remoldeling I was getting between 17-22k ppd on the 2 single gpu;s I was running. If you look at my stats for the past few days its been close, but not quite up to par.

Best option is to get a bunch of as cheap as possible P55 systems with 1-2 slots and only run 1 gpu per rig for maximum production:up:<<<If yuo are keeping track in the 920/860 thread on WCG. I am currently running 4ghz on my X3440(2.53 stock) @ 1.4v for the moment. I will try to lower the voltage when I get back from vaca. I was at 1.36v for 4 ghz before my UD2 blew up,, but I guess I couldn't tell if that was stable since it only took a few hrs to blow up the UD2.

I disagree that multi GPU's slow down production.
