Two 280s have a lot more horsepower, per say, and a single X2. One 4870 X2 can not match 280 SLI performance. So you are probably loading the card the same way you would load 2x 280s, you probably need to lower your texture res, or shaders, etc. If you still have those 280s you should run a benchmark, like 3dmark and see just how much lower the X2 compares to the 280 Sli. I run two X2s and pretty much Triple Sli tramples it, but really... who wants to run 3 cards. Not me anyway.

Only cod4 res hdmi 1080p on a 25in monitor a left untouch.

I bench the 280x2 and i hit 18000+ now the ati same settings almost 19000+ its a llil better points wise so i dunno know.

I ran driver sweeper in the system before install the 4870x2 im going to run it again soon as my other 4870x2 gets in today :)

He's saying his computer freezes, not just the video for a split second (like is normal for explosions in COH).

What does event viewer show for these freezes? Anything?

I bet your freezing problems will seize once you have the Quad-fire setup properly configured. Good luck

Nothing and it more likes locks up the pc,So i got my 2nd card and installed it ran driver sweeper,And it works fine no errors just had to over clock my cpu from the 3.8 that i had it to 4.2 just to make sure there would be no bottle necking other then that its fine,

Thank you for everyone imput in this issue i was having i posted this a another site and didnt get nothing in response, now i know ill just be active here rather then over there....

TBH, I just replaced my GTX280 with a 4870x2 and am thoroughly disappointed. I'm going to play around with it for a bit longer but I have a good feeling that my 280 is going back into my pc.

Weird issues indeed 4870X2 here and doing all my gaming at 2560x1600, Cod4, Cod5, COH, GTA IV etc. not a slightest slowdown.
But I didn't quite get if you were using 2 x 4870X2's if thats the case I'd say it's a driver issue.

I'm in Tri-Crossfire here, 4870X2 + 4870 1GB, and playing all those games at 2560X1600 without a single hic-up, freezing or any other problems. Reformat and re-install everything.

i7 920 at 4 and 12 GB of RAM.

I was thinking maybe microlag... but the description isn't anything to do with lag. Misleading title!
