This is why I laugh at Audiophiles.

So here's what 2.2 million US Dollars can get you. The first 4 sets alone costs about a Million US$.

8 more! Two are repeats from the 15 previous.

Yes, ULTIMATE is spelled with an all-caps syntax, at least that’s how Transmission Audio spells it. The manufacturer describes this as the epitome speaker equivalent of a Ferrari, Mazerati, and Kenigsegg all-in-one chassis. For two million dollars, it better be! The built-to-order system is made of 4 separate dipole subwoofers, each containing ten 15-inch subwoofers, one dipole panel per channel with twenty-four 8 inch units, followed by two full MF ribbon dipoles per channel plus one HF panel for each channel with a grand total of 68 meters of true ribbons.

There's another going for 1 million:lol:

Is it just me or looks the Firebird like an (ugly) B&W Nautilus 800 series rip-off, if you cut the horns off?

A few of those actually have a really nice design to them and no doubt sound more amazing than anything any of us have heard. But most just look retarded from a design perspective. Personally, I think one of the most beautiful speakers (from a technology standpoint, and looks) are these:

http://news.softpedia.com/images/news2/Plasma-a-New-Tweeter-Technology-Lansche-Audio-No-8-3.jpg

Plasma tweeters FTW :D
Ya thats right, that glow in the center is actually fire. The energy itself produces the sound, not some speaker cone moving air.

the Corona tweeter is essentially a zero-mass, point-source-shaped electric arc (plasma flame) that activates the surrounding air to produce sound. Unlike ion tweeters of the past, no gas refills are required
It uses a ceramic catalyst that prevents ozone from being produced by the speaker.

ozone = not want
I've debated building a plasmatweeter myself

Some of this is like seeing the Emperor Naked! "Emperor's new clothes". As one other poster said and nailed it. "You start listening to the equipment more than enjoying the music being played."

I'd love to win one of those $350,000 sets of speakers so I could go straight to Craig's List or EBay for a Quick sell.
