Ok, as some of you know, ATi cards have a few issues when it comes to HDTV support. Usually it has to do with scaling for most customers, and giving black borders with certain games, even when you set up the over/underscan properly.

After much testing I've discovered the cause of this phenomenon is actually because the games can't read the multiple 1080 resolutions, and as such certain games revert to the first 1080 they pick up, being 1080i as it's first in the list. As each HDTV setting requires it's own scaling set up, it ends up with the black bars once again until you edit that.

What I need done is simple, remove the entire ability for 1080i from the driver list. That way, 1080p will be what all the games see. That simple.

It'll fix the longest running ATi bug ever.

Hahaha, only on XS.

Seriously though, I'm still trying to figure out where to edit this one. I'm sure we have a few ATi driver guru's here. It's apparent to me that we'll have to take matters into our own hands as ATi/AMD won't even acknowledge the problem when I email them.

Yay I can post now

Pretty sure I've seen numerous fixes for this, but wasn't paying attention at the time cause I have nvidia anyway

Edid override might help. You can use it to remove one of the 1080 res so that it won't be picked up
