I have ...

EVGA GeForce 285 GTX Graphics Card
ASUS M4A78 Plus AMD Motherboard
AMD Phenom X4 9150e Processor 1.8GHz (Overclocked to 2.2GHz)
4x2GB Samsung DDR2 PC2-6400 400MHz RAM (Overclocked to 480MHz)
OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ500MXSP 500W Power Supply
Windows 7 RC Build 7100

My problem is this I have been playing Darkfall and I am only rocking 75 FPS and there are some playing the game with a 260 GTX and rocking around 300 FPS. So I was wondering if anyone had ideas why this would be. Any help would be great.

At first I thought this might be because I was only using a Motherboard with a 1.0 PCIe x16 so I bought a new motherboard this week and this has a 2.0 PCIe x16 and the same thing. So this was not the problem. I know that 75 FPS isn't that big of a deal, but if my computer can be kicking out a much larger number, I want to get this fixed so I know everything is working fine.

Do you have vsync enabled? Sounds like it is too me. Are thos other people playing the game at the same resolution as you?

Other than that, a 285 isn't a great match for your processor either.

Yes, the vsync was turned on so I forced it off, I won't be able however to test this until I get home tonight. Also the next upgrade on my list is the processor, I am thinking AMD 965 Black Edition Phenom II AM3 x4 3.4GHz Quad Core Processor. Ill be getting that in about a week or so. Also my RAM is lacking in speed, and it looks like you have G.SKILL RAM and I was looking at theirs and I want to know what you think about your RAM.

those will barely help your fps though... and why do you want 300fps anyways? :D
100 is really more than enough imo, at that point you usually have minfps steady above 60

I understand this is overkill but why not, and plus this computer is also a server to many websites, so more processing power, the better off I am so in that case, a better processor and ram will help. Also the issue is resolved, I am rocking 280 FPS and of course I still dont notice any difference, but I know its running right.

It was the vsync, and yes I am hosting web sites on the same machine.

My E8400 bottlenecks my GTX285 in all my CPU-demanding games, the best recent example I have from the games I own is Fallout 3, outside of Megaton, if I leave everything at stock speed, I get around 70FPS, but if I only over-clock my CPU at 3.7Ghz without touching the memory nor the GPU I get an astounding +20FPS boost. But it only affects games that really depend more on the CPU than the rest. If I do the exact same in... say... Crysis, it doesn't change a single thing, exact same FPS count, also the same can be observed in 3DMark Vantage (very GPU-dependent). Also, the screen resolution might play a role, the lower it is I believe the less your GPU works and the more dependent on the CPU it becomes (but I'm not totally certain about that one).
