Well, the machine currently at No 2 spot in the host list only has 3 out of 4 GTX295's fitted. I just got back one that I RMA'd, so the fourth is going back in there tomorrow.

And the 4 new GTX295's will go into the dual Xeon board this weekend, (and I really must do it this weekend cause the hardware has been sitting idle for a week now), which should start producing next week. (It's currently only CPU crunching WCG at the moment.)

The No 1 spot (109K) is held by a machine with 4x GTX295's. I think I can compete, watercooled and overclocked. (84K / 3 * 4 = 112K)

Of course! I spent 6 hours yesterday shuffling hardware between cases, ready to fit the new hardware. I ran out of time. I still need to fit a waterblock to the replacement for the RMA'd GTX295, (which will go into the dual E5520 Xeon machine (http://www.gpugrid.net/show_host_detail.php?hostid=51076)), and I'm waiting for the waterblock SLI connectors which will link the cards together, (after realizing yesterday that I'd forgotten to order them), to be able to fit the four new GTX295's to this machine which currently just has a single 9800GX2 (http://www.gpugrid.net/show_host_detail.php?hostid=39103).

You got your third today JackOfAll! Get those last 4 up running?

No, no yet. I wasted too much time this week with trying to get a 4th GTX295 to work in the Tyan S7025 (dual 55xx Xeon) board. Even though this has 4x double spaced 16x/16x PCI-E slots, 3x GTX295's work just fine, 4x GTX295 cause the board not to boot. The "helpful" people at Tyan eventually had this to say.... "Currently the maximum number of GPUs is limited to six GPUs on the S7025. Since the GTX295 are dual GPU cards, you can use a maximum of three GTX295 cards." They obviously forgot to put this 6 GPU limitation in the manual or marketing material. Too busy trumpeting that the board is "best for GPGPU applications." ;)

So this week, all I've managed to do is to get that 4th card running in another board, (which I usually use for my desktop machine sans crunching). Still have 4x GTX295's spare which are going to go into the P6T7 (again). At least I do know that you can max the Asus board out with four of them.

I've also noticed this week that my RAC is coming up nicely. My machine at number 2 on the top hosts (currently at 102K) compared to number one spot (currently at 108K). That's interesting because I'm only 6K short of the top spot with 2 less GPU's. The xdrv machine has 4x GTX295's fitted, while my machine only has 3x GTX295. So I'm pleased with that! ;)

I'll try and get another 4x GTX295's online today, but that rather depends on how much time I need to spend on Mum's computer. Dad says it keeps turning off while she is trying to use it. (Which could be as silly as they don't understand the concept of "sleep", or it's overheating and shutting down, or something else more sinister.) I got to deal with that first before I start doing anything else.

I guess I should have posted about this sooner....I did a quick Vantage run after I fitted my waterblock on my 295 then switched off till the following day when all hell let loose....Flames from the rear between the cards....I have the MB back up and running after a cmos error..... Anyone know what I should start looking for once I've thoroughly cleaned everything? (I'm thinking that there were traces of the original paste not cleaned off properly) I've been over it with a magnifying glass (found nothing except a film of silver here and there) and it now needs to be rebuilt using diamond 7?

I've not got a lot of spare cash this month so otis you may get past before I rebuild.

Bit of both, I think. SAM's production has definitely increased. (It's a shame he's chosen to hide his individual host details, so can't be 100% sure what he's added, if anything.) The big cruncher has been down for an hour or two while I try and isolate what I believe is a faulty stick of RAM to a specific socket. Memtest86+ isn't isolating it, so I'm stuck rotating DIMM's between slots and trying to catch the BANK number on the MCE error.

I think I have all 9 of my GTX 275's crunching away. I will now have to monitor my 5 rigs.

I have 4 rigs running 2 275's and 1 running a single card. Hopefully this will hep maximize my production without too much in multi-gpu penalties. I do not know if this is a better solution than running 2 rigs with 3 cards and 3 rigs with 1 or the way I have it.:shrug: guess we will see.

Got 40 cores( maybe I should say 40 Threads) a crunchin on WCG; however I am waiting for a new HSF for 1 rig. So basically this 1 rig is crippled to 2.8ghz right now:(

Not looked at the stats for a couple of days, but you're not wrong, the dual Xeon E5520 (Tyan S7025), 4x GTX295 rig has taken top host spot and the AMD x4 955 BE (MSI 790FX-GD70), 3x GTX295 rig has dropped to second place. :D

Yes I do, but it depends on getting the "spare" GTX295's fitted to the i7 920 (Asus P6T7), which is currently only running 1x 9800GX2. Due to other commitments this still hasn't made it to the top of the todo list.

Does not look like pie will be in my diet for awhile. The retched 192 core was only playing games since it would not work F@H or GPUGrid. Well it did F@H WUs ok as long as they were not 576x but that was about all I got. But now even games are crashing, locking up the PC. I pulled it and tried it under Linux and GPUGrid but WUs errored out immediately. So it sites doing nothing and I have to take one of the working 260s off to play games. Will lose about 5k a day I think.

If GPUGrid comes out with the WUs for 260s will try them on the 192 core and if it fails will try and ebay the cursed thing. I am so looking forward to getting a ATi 5850 next year. Will game and whatever else it will do on it and the 216 260s will again be dedicated GPUGrid crunchers. gpr said they would support ATI if the Stream software "got there". Also F@H coming out with new apps for ATI.

I would be an nvidia hater except the 2 GTX 260 216s have been flawless. When they are good they are very good!

Yes ... 6:00 PM your time is UTC 0:00 (no idea of how i managed to get -4???) so if you did it just before 6:00 PM that would be great. Let me know if you want some help with that ... I am usually home from work by then but really, not a big deal either way ... I have seen in WCG (when they used to regularly post pie) they would post if it was "mid day pie" (meaning anything other than end of day, where people could post up if they made it but expected to be bumped out by the end of the day)) or "end of day" pie. Other pie terminology ... "humble pie" ... when someone posts multiple days of results all at once so they can get some pie :-)

I was just reading up on Free-DC and apparently they are continuously polling projects sites for their stats data (they rest for 15 minutes between runs) so the actual numbers are more a function of how often GPUGrid exports their stats data (no I have not looked that up yet). I would think that just prior to 6:00 PM would be a safe bet on "end of day" because, as you posted, it looks like Free-DC switches between "Today" and "Yesterday" with GMT (I called it UTC in my post but it's the same thing).

Looks like the pie competition is starting to heat up ... I have started to see some heavy hitters returning resources to the grid :up: and they are showing up on the mid day pie :clap: Hopefully my latest addition will keep me in pie we'll just have to see :shrug:. My "big hitter", dual Xeon, 4x GTX295 rig is down. Had to reboot after it hung one night during the week. 24 hours later it switched itself off and refuses to boot again, no beeps from the mb, etc. etc. Not had time to do any more investigating yet.

The 8800gt's arent up yet, that's from 2 days since I had some hiccups at the house. They are installed now, not sure if they are running yet.

I'm actually looking at selling my 3 phenom base quad cores as gaming systems. That would get rid of my gtx 295, my gtx275 and my 2 8800 gt's. Technically I have 8 machines right now.

It's a lot for my wife to deal with when I'm away and my competitiveness is making it worse. Expect a simplification that will likely make more points anyway in both WCG and GPUgrid. That, and reduce overall heat output. Details still in work, and I really need to see what I can get for those gamers.

They are in Japan. I'm in the desert..so not exactly with me haha. Shipping is moderately expensive...70-100 bucks usally each when I order cases.

ETA: If I was to sell to someone on here, I would go half on shipping though.

Looks like my GTX260 has died. :( I have been getting errors with it the last couple of days, so I dropped it back to stock settings. Now when windows applies the driver at start up, I get a blue screen nvd blah blah blah error. It's a re-certified EVGA card that is long past the 90 day warranty. I had to take one of my GTS250's from my other rig. I'm now running one GTS250 on the grid, and the other on F@H.

First time I have had anything die on me from crunching. (not counting D9 ram, have had plenty of those die :lol:)

That really sucks; sorry about your loss. Thats the one bad thing about buying recert or used, lose out on the warranty cause you know it won't break under warranty

I'll tell ya ... I looked long and hard at that EVGA 4 Way Classified and 4 GTX 285 Classified deal they ran for a while. I decided that it would be difficult for me to keep it and my existing machines running in the long term (I can only afford to run so much) so decided to stick with the hardware I have for now. :dreaming: ... can you see that board stoked with a westmere tooling along at a cool 4.5GHz :sigh:

On a brighter note ... looks like 'doc may have conquered the ghost in his machines and is starting to return some serious numbers :clap:

I updated my AV yesterday and it suddenly decided to barf out acemd ... repeatedly ... both machines ... :shakes:
I only lost about 1.5 WUs but that's enough in this crowd to make me concerned about getting me a slice.

Trying out some new settings on both cards (I'm a glutton for punishment).
My GTX295 responds really nice to more volts but I am having a tough time keeping the temps under control (fan at 86% temps at 83c).

To get a slice of the bottom you need 35k... So 2 Highly OCed 260's would get in once in a while.

An OCed 295 under water could also get you a slice according to JackOfAll's numbers... But 3 Solid GPUs would get you a stead slice I think...

I have a 295 that is currently pulling 37.5k and then a 285 that runs great for a while and then craps out again (only doing 15.5k but it should be doing 24k easy) ... I'm almost thinking there is a memory leak in the HERG WUs as that one kills me and once it starts it craps out all other WUs until I reboot. I have pulled back to <gasp> stock </gasp> on the 285 until I can figure out what is really going wrong.
