need help

i recently bought a ek waterblock for my gtx 295

when i opened it up the o-ring fell out now i can't put it back in place

i tried using tape didn't work :(

That's what I thought. I was more worried that it was left on.

TIP: to keep an o-ring in place, fill-up the groove with dielectric grease (vaseline works just a well), put the o-ring in place, finally gently wipe any excess grease ..

well explain to me how you used tape? Typically, the problem is that the o-ring keeps poping out of its groove. This happens a lot in sharp radii. if you put a piece of tape on it, sure it will keep it in place, but you cannot close the block with the tape or it will leak, so you have to remove it. As soon as you remove the tape, the o-ring comes with it, or it wants to pop out of the groove again.

using the vasline or grease trick keeps the o-ring in place in the groove, and you can close the block like that.

it might mean that the o-ring is not on specs. it could be too long, or too short, or the groove might be out-of specs (too shallow, or too wide, or too narrow).. As you see many possible causes for the same outcome.

is the o-ring too short? (you can't get to the groove), or too long (it buckles?)

if too short, you can lengthen it a bit by rubbing gently from the opposite side, then work your way towards the difficult spot.. if too short, do the opposite.. rub it out of the difficult spot to spread the excess material over a longer distance..

Try using a hair dryer to make it more flexible so it will stay in the groove.

just work at it for a little while.... it takes patience and a fine touch. I think you are just getting frustrated (easy to do, as it can be difficult to get the O-ring to sit right ;))

if you can get it with the tape, make long piece's of tape then put the block back on and pull the tape. it should stay in place and let you remove ALL the tape.
