Haha, wow. Yeah I'm doing pretty well. Got everything under control for now, but there's a career expo tomorrow so pray for me! Looking for a summer internship. Might be hard in this economy, idk. :shrug:

Edit: One of the internships I'm looking at is with IBM. Wondering if there are any WCG tech openings. Long shot, but hey. Gotta dream right?

If they can PPD 50% higher than my 295 (cautiously optimistic), it will be time to replace that also. You would be pushing the limits a bit if you stay with 650W.

YUP YOU WOULD BE LUCKY IF YOU COULD BOOT UP.a 650 watt and a oced mother board has trouble running 2 gtx260s so i would think it would be the same for 1 gtx 295 ive never tried to run a 295 on a 650 watt but i have on a 750 watt silver stone psu and it would do a random shut down so i got a 850 watt psu and that fixed the problem.:D

i replaced the silver stone with the corsair tx 850 so far im loving it.:up:
the 750 did its job i needed to do for F@h for 2 years 24/7 so i think it was tired. :(

Looks like i'm definately waitin to see how the 300 comes... the temptation to jump on that card is gone since it would cost $150 for PSU and $300 for the card... Maybe scrap together $300, but that would be pushin it. $450+ is just not going to happen atm. :down:

Yeah, but it's a new PSU... Only 3 months old (I'll never buy this sizeof a PSU again. Just no reason. Go a little smaller it gets a lot cheaper, a lot bigger is only a little more costly...)

For now I'm gonna hold off and see... 300 performance and prices. With my luck i'd find a way to do this, the 300 would magically make it out in december in time for christmas and outperform it like no other. :ROTF:

Haha, well the 300 series is after i unload my GTX 295 and 275. I'm buying a HD5970 for my gamer because i have 3 screens and i want to replace my matrox as they do not work well together. I have to do it this way as the wife doesn't approve of buying stuff for crunching, they all have to have another real purpose. Hopefully by Feb they have ATI support.

Not trying to pull you away from GPUGrid or WCG (I still participate heavily in both of them myself) but there are a few of us starting to make some headway in the stats on Einstein, we seem to be doing pretty good so far but could sure use some help :yepp: It is not a particularly good CUDA cruncher project as it still is more like your GPU supports your CPU so you are using a whole CPU core while processing their GPU tasks. They do also have straight up CPU WUs also. Pie is easy (all you need to do is post any points at all), heck you could even get top ten pie pretty quick :up:
In case you do stop by with a GPU you will only be using about 15% so you can turn those shaders up quite high, like two to three straps above your GPUGrid max at least :shocked:

What you mean?- this is the 1 I was getting errors on before along with the 260 I had updated the drivers on. But afaik they seem to be working ok now but maybe I need to be paying more attention them- where would the power saving settings be for the gfx?

Take a look at some of the completed WUs on your 285 ... elapsed time of 42K+ plus per WU :shakes:
I can see your shaders are up to 164x something so it should be completing a WU in about 14400 sec. for you.

The Power savings would be if for some reason the gpu driver was slipping down into 2D mode and in that case you would see the shaders drop in a tool like Precision. Another possibility is that your OS is dropping into a low power mode which is choking the crap out of your CPU which in turn slows your GPU so far down that a 4 hour run has turned into 12 hours.

If it does not look like either of these two areas, double check to make sure you did not accidentally turn your vRAM frequency down so far that it is the bottleneck on your shaders.

Looks like you have your other cards straightened out and flying right :up:
If you get this one cranking the WUs out every 4 hours you will be kicking my ascii very soon.

Let us know what you find, maybe someone else may be having issue and your post could be the one that frees they up to gorge on Pie :rofl:

Gonna look @ it right now- rebooting both systems also- the i7 260 was telling me a WU was gonna take 17 hours?!? + the 285 is server 08R2 and that is takin some gettin used to

Also if I up the shaders should I go what precision says it's at( not where i set it though ) or GPU-Z? I get confused to where the final setting is because I cannot tell if my OC stays because GPU-Z says to what I got it set to but the graph on precision varies:shrug:

The sliders in Precision along with GPUZ are telling you what you told it to be but the graph in Precision is what the card is really running.

You might consider turning the shaders down until you can get a chance to spend some quality time OCing and making sure they are stable. Sometimes when the drivers crash, the entire system does not BSOD so the OS restarts the driver. Once this happens I have never seen it get out of 2D mode and that is when you see those crazy long runtimes. At that point I can only make it back into 3D mode with a reboot.
