quick question guys.

what are considered safe max VDDC Slave Temps? I know my GPU temps are good,
but I wouldn't have a clue about VDDC and those temps nearing 100c has got me worried :eek:

specs: 4870X2 x 2 crossfire @ 851MHz Clock and 951MHz Mem
temps: GPU- Idle 47c - Load 52c
VDDC Slave- Idle 59c - Load 90c
Ambient Room- 25c
Inside Case- 27.5c
Both cards are WC'd

cheers

up to 105 is fine, 120 should get you worried

Im using a HEATKILLER 4870x2 LT Block with a q6700 @ 3.4 on a PA 120.3 and one single Rad in the front of the case. My temps are at 38 idle on the Vddc's, and 30c on the GPu's. Im at 34c gpu and 48C vddc load Playing WOW. I think something isnt right. (room temp is about 26C). Darn my stock block would only load the vddc's at about 80. What block is it your using?

those temps are much lower than mine and your on a single loop too!
I'm using the koolance blocks and the cards are on their own loop with TFC240. :confused:

btw is your GPU stock or OC'd?

Im just at the stock GPU speed right now. I did have mine in a dual loop once with a old Black Ice GT stealth 240. Think my temps were little over 50 vddc with a single card. (that rad was nice and warm also). In the end I just went back to a single loop, my CPU temps only came up about 3c or so but my GPU temps came down about 6-10C. Maybe the Thermal tape isnt making good contact on the Voltage regulators . That Koolance block (Koolance VID-487X2?) looks to be about like mine. But I guess 100 is ok on load from what I read,, but your on water so thats kind of strange for a full block.

that's what I thought. need to see more set ups and compare them, then I'd be comfortable. :up:

I ran furmark for 5 minutes today. My VDDC temps hit 123 degrees. I have the Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 4870X2 cooler. Is there anything I can do to lower it? :(

Yup.

Yup.

ok, your temps are definitely high.
post your GPU idle/load and ambient temps.

Ambient Temp: ~25 degrees
Fan setting: 60%
Cooler: AC Accelero Xtreme 4870X2
Case: Gigabyte Aurora 3D 570 (intake fan mounted on mesh side panel)

5 minute furmark run:
{
GPU idle: 32 degrees
GPU load: 58 degrees

VDDC idle: 46 degrees
VDDC load: 123 degrees
}

3DMark06 (Proxicon, Forest, Canyon looped 3 times each):
{
GPU idle: 27 degrees
GPU load: 50 degrees

VDDC idle: 41 degrees
VDDC load: 88 degrees
}

I really don't want to remount the cooler, because it is a pain in the butt to put the 4870X2 x-clamps back on, and I've sorta stripped the screws so yeah. it's a bit messy. Any help is appreciated !

big difference between furmark and 06! your program settings might have something to do with the temp variance.
besides remount and maybe increasing air onto you card, I cant suggest anything else. your 06 temps are very good and you should be happy with those especially on air.
I'll try another video benchmark and see if that makes any difference to vddc.

Don't worry about. Furmark is known to raise vdcc temps beyond what every other game will ever do. Actually don't even run furmark: it pointless unless you want to damage your card.

i think w1zz meant gpu temps, the pwm can probably run hotter...
most pwm fets are rated for up to 150C... you dont want them that hot, but you dont have to worry if they are above 100 i think...
does anybody have the code of the parts in question so we can check the specs?

Guys, I tell you what: 4870x2 is too hot to aircool

are you being scarcastic? your pwm is only around 75C... weird, i wonder why other people are hitting above 100C... bad airflow in the case?

No, I tried to be as serious as possible. I reassembled this 100-bucks-Xtreme-cooler 4 times before I started getting 80C. My stock cooler gave me 115 load, first attempt to mount Accelero Xtreme gave me 100 on VRM. After some dancing with additional pads, different grease, its finally 79. And its +15 outside, opened window, opened CoolerMaster 690 case with no additional fans on. Just CPU and GPU fans.

I think I will even drop the temps down a little if I mount a 140 fan right above the GPU - my CM-690 case has 2 holes for this purpose on it's left side - CPU and GPU fresh air, but this means I will have to close the case and manage a good airflow inside = 2x140 front, 2x140 top, 2x140 side. This thought make me crazy just because the case is silent now, I cant hear it when GPU is idle, and 6 additional fans will be a torture for my ears unless they are controlled = additional $100 control panel to $100 for fans. And its while I am trying to get some money for 3x24'' LCDs? No way, let it be 80C for a while :)
