There is nothing wrong with the card itself. It works flawlessly at stock speeds but as soon as I try to overclock it just the slightest I get problems. I used to have it at 750MHZ core and 1050MHz memory (625MHz core and 993MHz memory stock) and I noticed games did not run good and prototype kept freezing up and 3DMark06 kept crashing.

Switched to stock speeds and everything went much better. Tried overclocking slowly, kept memory at stock and moved core to 650MHz and started getting problems.

I have a HIS HD4850 512MB (I think it's a HIS, packed the box away) which comes with a 3rd party cooler for the GPU but no cooling for the memory.

I can't send it back as there is nothing wrong with it at stock speeds and the retailers aren't going to care that I can't overclock it. So have I got a dodgy card?
