An HD4350 will do DXVA no problem.

Is there much difference in video quality between ati and nvidia ?
I've never owned an ati card.

Some might say ATI AVIVO is better than Nvidia PureVideo and otherwise but IMO I think they both have their own advantages, you don't have to worry about one's quality is superior over another. This is a good article to read:

the 46xx are about the same price as the lower 4 series so i dont see the point in going lower

the ati cards tend to have better quality but pure is catching up and is vary close now, but the NV cards are ether garbage or a rebadged g92 in the HTPC class cards there arnt any small gpus made for low-midrange 3d and low power (and expanding my comment i would not even look at anything NV other than a 285 and then its questionable)

4800series SD and AVI/XVID quality is incredible....HD looks awesome of course.
ATI is the better HTPC card as it can transfer both vid and sound over the HDMI dongle.

If it's better than the 46xx:up:
They aren't that expensive now either.

That was my point...I don't think they are better for just video.

Anyhoo, I installed the 4650 today and just had to overclock it a little....:D

I set it at 800/900 and it works well.

ll.

Cool....as long as you've got the same video processor, then you're in business.

I had a few other requirements as well...low power, no power cable, cool, quiet and small....$49 and free shipping sealed the deal.
