imo grab a single 4890/ GTX275 then add another for SLI/CF later on (or just grab 2 straight away if you wish!)

They have been good for me for over a year but I'm about to swap them for a pair of 5870's within the next couple of weeks.

I bought them before the 4870x2 and 1GB cards were released, so I'd say if you were thinking of 4870 Cf now just grab a 4870x2.. but I really think a pair of 4890's is a better choice, or if you can wait a week or two get yourself a 5870 :)

Few months ago when the 4770 where at a miserable $89 it was CF heaven. Now a CF of the two is not an option.

I did not go with ati 4770 or wait for the 5870. I grabbed a 295 gtx. Thanks for all the info.
