Hey guys,

My first post, been lurking for awhile :).

So the title just about says it all. My XFX 9800GX2 Black Edition died last week. XFX is so far refusing warranty on it, but that's a whole topic in it's self.

I'm researching a replacement to run my 30" (2560x1600) & 22" (1680x1050) monitors. My 9800GX2 always did a great job, but I'm a bit worried that killed it with my monitor combo.

I've been looking at the ATI 4870x2's. The price/performance sure looks good. I figured I'd post here to get some input.

Of course I game so it needs to be able to play the newest/best games!

Yeah a HD4870x2 would be a great choice but the new ati cards are coming out very very soon like 2 or 3 weeks so maybe you should wait.

Yeh ATi's new cards are very very close and I heard they will support 3 monitors(?)

I had a single 280 for my 1920x1200.

It did OK for 90% of the games, but I wanted a bit more speed... :)

I went for the 295, and just kept my 280 for dedicated PhysX.

With the new cards getting closer every day, I also would wait for some DX11 goodness if I was getting ready to buy right now.

Thanks for the reply's guys.

Unfortunately I needed a solution now, as my old 7950gt was having a heck of time trying to keep me running with my 9800gx2 out. I ended up ordering a XFX GTX 295. So far so good it's running nicely.
