looking for the cheapest simplest fan controller for a Delta 80mm x 38mm Hi speed....
ideas and links??

You could just knock yourself up a reduction cable or a simple speed dial if you're not too bothered about mounting it in a drive bay.

How many watts is it?
somewhere around 10?
If so, you could probably make one out of some adjustable resistors from radioshack.

Just get the Vantec Nexus or the Sunbeam fan controller. Vantec can handle ~15 watts and the Beam takes 22. That should be plenty for that fan.

I have the sunbeam, and it's great, but it's like 25 bucks after shipping.

!5 ohm @ 15 watts should be sufficient they're $1.65 HERE (http://www.allelectronics.com/pdf/pot.pdf) in single lot, order a few and be set for a bit... It is on the second page of the .PDF

If your question is for me, yes I soldered the wires, you could also use the correct connector and crimp them on.
