Athlon II has become the favorites because of cheaper price and overall low priced platform, coupled with a 785G based board Athlon II offers astounding multimedia performance with very low power consumption.

However people looking for even lower priced alternative might not consider the Athlon II 240, for the low seagment AMD has quietly pushed the $59 , idle for home and htpc machines. Like its higher siblings this Athlon II can be overclocked to higher Mhzs.

Wonder how well it clocks. Could be a good upgrade for the wifes computer if it can hit at least 3.6 or so on SB600.
