http://cpu.zol.com.cn/147/1470977.html
Saw it online
They have it for sale in China
According to the article , the price for Athlon II x4 620 Retail is RMB$790

http://finance.yahoo.com/currency-converter#from=CNY;to=USD;amt=790
~ $115 USD

Sounds like a winner for budget Quad Core config:up:

I think that it has the real Propus core and not the L3 cache disabled Deneb.

Deneb (L3 disabled)

I'm curious about the power consumption difference (if have) between the real Propus and the L3 cache disabled Deneb.

well L3 is about 15 watts for 1.8ghz I can prove this as I did a 225 watt tec on my phenom II 940 here with one core and came to the calutation it was using 55 watts at load with the 6mbs of the L3 cache.

it must run a lot cooler too.

if it is indeed sells @$115, it sure is pissing Intel off
AMD not playing fair here by releasing a budget Quad to compete with duallies
but WTH....it is we, the customers who wins :D

maybe the crippled Deneb is X4 640?

Will be interesting to see how Propus competes against Intels dual-cores with HT:shrug:

you/we don't know (At this point in time) if the L3 is completely powered off when disabled. in which case power consumption will be the same.

Well I asked around and this CPU should be available for retail next week
Maybe I can try grab one next week and see if it's Deneb with L3 Disabled or the real Propus core ;)

It's nice to see that a "True" Propus core is available, but that pricing seems a little off to me....

From an enthusiast point of view, I'd rather take my chances with a 720BE for the same price, or a 550BE for $25 less and hope they are unlockable , including an L3 cache... ;)

Time will tell I guess... The smaller die size may make these chips OC monsters, but if history is any reference, bigger dies with disabled stuff has helped things run cooler in the past.

I'm going way back to the X2 4800 Toledo Core, which had 2x512k of L2 cache disabled. The bigger die actually helped keep the rest of the chip cooler...
Back in the day it was the one everyone wanted... :D
