I can't find a lot of good tutorials on a specific subject which is reducing the bass of an audio file using Audacity. Anybody know how? I can't get it to be perfect with vocals it's either too hissy or too much bass.

I hope this is only intended for Steam

There is no reason why you should remove Bass from a song, if you have anything against Bass, Me and STEvil will...

What is the intended outcome and what are the source files (aac/flac/mp3/etc)?

ouch.. not gonna help at all

CTRL+A the audio file in Audacity, click Effect > Equalization....

On the blue bar click to make a few dots near the left end and drag the dots doiwn to make a curve from about 150hz down. 0-50hz probably want to be all flat line, even a bit higher.

To get rid of hissing you will probably have to drop off a bit of the top end and/or play with "Noise removal..." and "Normalize..." under effects. Also try using Amplify and going down a bit.

Have you tried using "High Pass Filter..." under effect? That one works best actually. Just set it to about 150-200hz.
