From GPUGrid Forums:Windows, cuda2.3, 190.xx UPDATED (http://www.gpugrid.net/forum_thread.php?id=1272#11973)

We have now selectively assigning a cuda2.3 application to people with a 190 driver only. This is a test. We keep it on if it does not give problems.
It should be transparent to older driver users.

You need a recent BOINC version to receive the new application.
Only for Windows so far.

As I understand it if you have 190.38 installed you will get a new CUDA 2,3 WU, so if you suddenly started getting errors when you were not before this could be it.

I will also give you the update on my Q9550 rig. may just be that my BFG card cannot clock as high as my evga cards  :shakes:

I'll be trying out my 260's again to see if they fixed that issue

They should get their testing phase done quickly then. :p:

is it safe to try and run 260s, i hate wasting my time if it isn't safe yet. all so saves me from yelling and swearing at them:D its to hot to get mad at vidcards and act like a nut if they don't work on the 190.xx drivers.:D

I've put 2 on and got to 15% so far but that is no measure of anything...I've had these fail at 98% before.....should take about 8 hours to get an answer of sorts.

What's the problem with 260 cards? I have been running one 24/7 for a few months now, used to be 2 but had to reduce due to summer heat.

There has been a disproportionate number of errors on 260s than other cards. Gpugrip thinks they have figured out the problem and that is what the change to CUDA 2.3 is about, hopefully a fix. Problem is it means everyone has to go to 190.38 or above. I have a 260 that will not run anything newer than 182.50 so it is on F@H. My other 260 does fine on 190.38.

my gtx 275's seem to be doing ok on 190.38/sli

I know its not a 260, but I though somewhere someone mentioned that there were issues with the 275's as well

I haven't seen any errors yet, but I think the wu's take quite a bit longer to complete

No fix for me!!....Overnight I left two running..woke up to one wu completed and validated in a runtime of 2394 secs

and 5 errors while computing wasting 1007, 597, 553,618,478 secs of runtime each.

I have to say that I've seen the message dvr failed come up whilst running folding but it recovers ok most of the time if 3d clocks are forced.but Grid has not cracked this yet.

I guess I'm waiting on this months driver from nvidia

Oh well, since my 260 is running fine, and has been error-free for months, I better not touch it huh :D

I think its cuda 2.3 and 190.xx drivers.
I have 1 rig running 190.38/sli with 2 gpu's and I am not producing crap anymore. I think a single gpu is putting more ppd out that this rig; I will know for sure after todays last update is done.

Kondik's quote>>>"Since yesterday I'm getting only cuda23 projects and they are working flawlessly as those on cuda 22 were running before , no difference tbh"<<<
^^^ are you running just a single gpu?
my Wu's are now taking probably 15 hrs to complete; when they usually tak less than 7

Excatly, the 250's are throttling down to 2D from time to time.

my 250's did that on fah too.. what a pita... I even called evga about it and b1tched... and elevated it to a product manager about why my cards are displayed as 65nm instead of 55nm in gpuz... he said no rma, gpuz was wrong and the cards are 55nm no matter what gpuz said.. and the only thing he suggested was riva tuner to force 3d clocks, which didn't work... I used to be a fan of the 250's when they came out, but not any more. the only reason I haven't swapped out my 250's for 260's is I'd have to upgrade psu's on 2 machines and buy 4 260's to make it happen ($600). and I'd probably only recoop about $300 selling the 4 250's... meh, I just deal with it... still pisses me off I sat on hold getting transferred around at evga only to get some lameass answer from a product manager that just wanted to get me off the phone.

dak if im around when it does throttle down i just abort the work unit if you restart it 75% of the time it will error out after it is 100% completed.i find its better to cut my loses if its only been running for 3 or 4 hours then take a chance on that its going to be a good wu.:shakes:

shadowwind, no need to do thAT. All you need to do is "Suspend" the project, re-start and you're good to go with 3D clocks again.

mike i know the feeling we went through the same crap i gave up 2 gts 250s for 1 gtx 260 hmm i think i got the short end of that stick.that's why i never said any thing but is the only gtx 260 i can run on the gpu grid.

will give it another try if it does it again,i got rivatuner on its been going good for almost 2 weeks and forced the power performace mode in the nvidia control panel and on rivatuner im hoping its fixed,
