Yeah thats not good, its a dual 6pin card. My first one I RMA'ed cause it just died on me and this one can't even overclock without artifacting in Crysis Warhead, even with an increase in voltage. :(

I can't make out those temps... I have 20/20 so maybe you should edit and fix it.

the card hits 100degreee gpu and you're thinking about OC it?

I'm actually trying to brick it so I can RMA it for the newer 6+8pin card to match the one I have arriving tomorrow that I had to RMA once already. =[ Just not having any good luck with these XFX cards.

No I'm not, I have the water blocks off of the system and sitting outside of my box at the moment waiting for the other card to come in, but at the rate this one I have is going I am going to RMA it after the other card gets here. Its on the stock air cooling and whether or not its making good contact isn't really a concern at the moment.

Well so far I've failed on overtemp twice, now anything over 870core artifacts even with a slight voltage bump 1.35v.

wait a minute. you're trying to brick it. well thats easy

set the fan to 5% and turn on furmark for a while and blow the vrms

set the fan to 5% and turn on furmark for a while and blow the vrms

Fan will auto jump to 100% to fix temps as best as it can above 103C core.

Edit: Fan is controlled by GPU core temp only above 103C

Fan will auto jump to 100% to fix temps as best as it can above 101C core and 140C vrm

unplug it then

You know what I just found out about Furmark? If you turn on MSAA it doesn't overload the VRM's like it usually does and the Current draw is considerably less as well.

thats because ati made it that way.

Just because the card has 6+8-pin plugs doesn't mean it's going to OC any better. You just might get another dud.

Great temps though.

Since you're busting it anyways, you should mess around with the "???? voltage" (1.2000V). Use Rivatuner and command prompt. 3c is the default setting (/wi1,71,18,3c). :)

Well it may or may not OC any better, but I believe that something is better than nothing. I would like to see a minimum of 900 on the core and 1000 on the memory, anything more than that I am thankful for.

Altspacen,

Have you talked to XFX? If you're hitting 120C on your VRMs, something isn't right. XFX has a support forum on @ XS, I'd post there and see what their reps say. I'd think you could RMA it w/o needing to kill the card...

Well my revised card came in today and she's currently running at 1GHz core as well as memory, stable at 1.4v. Going to set up an RMA with newegg for my current card and then finally I'll be able to run in crossfire in another week or so. Keeping my fingers crossed.

you guys are retarded, that said - OP you clearly have a mounting problem or you live inside an oven.... I dont know which it is but solve your issues before you kill your card and FFS stop overclocking and overvolting it numbnuts, its too hot at stock your not supposed to overclock/overvolt it

Agreed - as noted earlier he just needs to talk with an XFX rep (who are conveniently available on these forums) instead of intentionally killing his card.

And aren't the +2 pins on the 8-pin just additional grounds?

Its not RMA fraud when the card runs as hot as it is on stock volts in a 70F room. How is benching the card like that any different than running it in a 24/7 number crunch? Its too hot to run even stock and should be RMA-ed.

As previously stated, card already RMA-ed and the previous replacement card I have runs perfect with great temps even overclocked.

My new card does look like yours, no problems. I couldn't even run my good card in conjunction with the hot one in crossfire w/o having problems last night.

Its not RMA fraud when the card runs as hot as it is on stock volts in a 70F room.Unless temps cause instability at stock (which you've never stated) and you are attempting to brick the card means you are attempting RMA fraud.
How is benching the card like that any different than running it in a 24/7 number crunch? Its too hot to run even stock and should be RMA-ed.Did the card artifact or crash during Furmark?
If not, you cannot argue my point.

And considering you had tried to disable the fan (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=3952050&postcount=11) reveals your intentions.

Again, you get a

u have an xfx, so u can remove the heatsink under warranty. so open the card up and reapply the thermal paste and and get all of the screws to hand tight.
