Hello all.
I have some big problems with my ram.
I got a kit of 2 PC8500 kingston hyperx ram that wont work so good.
When i got my CPU at stock freq i can have my ram at 1066MHz, but when i have my cpu overclocked to 3600mhz i cant have the cpu at 920MHz, the computer wont boot. However it boots with 730mhz, which is no good.
Anyone know what can be wrong?

Voltage info would help..

Since your running DDR2 1066 id say your ram is not maxed,,

Second your using 4 or 8gigs?

The next thing is ,,Are you using Stock NBvid?

If so that may very well be your problem .

Try raising the NBvid to use 1.2-1.25v (if your Bios has that option.

@ 3600mhz PHII's the CPU's IMC(NB) will usually need a little more volts even with only 2200nb or stockNB.

My 550 and my 720 do the same thing @ 3600mhz if im using stock NBvid @1.125v on a Gigabyte Mobo as well.

1.3volt on the NBvid is good for up to 2600-2700nb easily.

Hey gOtVoltage, thank you for your answer :)

Damn, that's what i was afraid of. Thats the one thing my mobo cant change, NB voltage.

Then im screwed?

@3600mhz and you CANT get higher than 2200-2400mhz stable NB, Id say the Mobo BIOS voltage option is the culprit.

Maybe try google for a Modded Bios maybe...

I usually try to pick my Mobos with full voltage options ,Because i Overclock everhthing :D.

Its a good Mobo ,,just not one to go wild on with Overclocking..

Note: Look under CHipset Voltage.. Raise it up a few notches .. this will help the ram and possiably the NB too..

The GMA /GX line with SB600 has no Bios Option for NBvid adjust ATM..NBvid is what is usually needed..

I looked up the PDFmanual from Gigabyte.

And this is only with Gigabyte boards? Like, MSI K9A2 has that option if im not mistaken. :shakes:

I have been serching for a modded bios but i cant find nothing. :(

Thers lots of Newer mobos that lack that option even with SB700/710 770/790GX mobos.

Usually you wont get that option on the Older GX stuff..Why i dont know and beside they could make the option if they wanted too,, just by recoding the Bios.
