I seem to be having all sorts of slow downs in games and such, and also noted that my screen savers run slow as crap. This is a brand new build that I did for a friend of mine and the specs are:

Core i7 920 (stock)
Gigabyte EX58 UD3R
6 GB OCZ ram @ 1620MHz 8/8/8/24
Corsair 620watt PSU
ATi 4850 512mb DDR3

Any ones thoughts on these drivers before I go back a set or 2? Thanks

In contrast you fellas 9.7 has been great for me.
It borked on install but i cleaned it off and when i got it to install properly it fixed the crashes i was having with COD WAW when i got hit with gas or lockups in air raids.
I am running Win7 7100 x64.

Thanks for the replies. I did a re-install of the driver, and all seems great now. Win7 64 build 7100 seems great.

That's good to hear because all has been well for me too. I like the newlayout/architechture, i.e. having everything in a 'tab' style menu. I have been kinda dissappointed with catalyst 9 series, given that they removed the 'Skins' in the preference menu. I liked running the Crimson Skin.

I have seen improvements in GTA IV, which i couldn't run in CrossfireX. I am still not getting full performance, as I have to reduce the texture to Medium for Gameplay at 1080p. Runs kinda laggy at High Texture, which is dissappointing with 4 GpU cores.

GTA4 needs 2gb of VRAM per GPU to be able to be maxed out.

Just installed.
HL2 games getting almost immediate lockup.
And I just finished playing all 3 with 9.6 and no problems. gonna try some others.

Update: Bioshock locks up immediately and 1 minute into game.
FC2 locks up during intro movie.
Fallout3 works for a few minutes then I stopped it to test others.

I just installed it on my PC last night. Haven't played 3D games, but had no trouble with the installation or regular 2D apps. Will post back if I run into any issues.

2GB per GPU...wow:confused:. So in Quad-Crossfire that means I would need 8GB...Is that even possible.

I played DemiGod for a couple hours last night in Crossfire...no issues.

9.7 seems to be a little flaky when using Crossfire. The new look is okay but stumped me for awhile on that first screen with the new drop downs. I went back to 9.5.

Not liking the new interface, 59Hz cap on W7 is irritating, removal of flat panel scaling options is incomprehensible (Why? Just why ATi?), slowdowns in L4D under W7. Otherwise no issues.

ATI always breaks something with newer drivers, its getting pretty normal for them nowadays.

Still running 9.7 here. I've played some Crysis and DemiGod in Crossfire, no issues, and I played Halo (non-Crossfire as it is unstable with Crossfire enabled) with no issues. I haven't noticed a new interface though...is that because I'm running XP still?

Maybe so, it's pretty hard to miss. Sounds like it,
's working out fine for you. How's DemiGod?

Working pretty well for me so far. My CF 4870s like it better than 9.4, which was the newest version that would work semi-properly with them.

Still have issues running Crysis @ 1920x1080, but I think that's more related to the crap-tacular monitors I have.

No problemo here with 9.7... just like 8.7, 8.8, and every other driver iteration up until today...

Tri-Crossfire (4870X2+4870 1GB), working like a champ for me. I don't remember the last time I got a BSOD or freezing in a game since it's been more then 12 months trouble-free for me. :)

Nvidia drivers were giving me alot more problems when I made the switch to ATI 1 year ago.

I take it you have never played Fallout3, Oblivion (since CAT 8.12), Empire Total War, ArmA2 or any other number of AAA titles..

I've never had problems with any version of ATI driver before, but 9.7 was flakier than a flakier flakey thing for me.

Couldn't get them uninstalled fast enough.

Win 7 and XP32.

ive been using 9.7 with win7 rtm x64 and no issues at all..played FO3 all the way through no issues, bioshock,left4dead,day of defeat:source with very little issues(im assuming they were stability issues with overclock vs driver issues)

9.7's are the most stable so far with my 4890's in crossfire. I get the most playability and stability out of them.

They are a bit slower in FO3 and I randomly get the FO3 water bug. Rappelz has some corruption in a few of the menu's. That is about it from the list of games I play that I'm having any issue with on these drivers.

As well Furmark seems to be giving me issues in this, I'm not sure if it's extra countermeasures implemented by ATI in the driver or something else but no matter what I do my scores end up being around 7700 give or take a few which is a single card score, that said both show up and I have done the rename thing and all that. I've also noticed that my card temps in Furmark both show identical temps, but they are low compared to CCC by about 5 degrees and my one card runs about 6-8 degrees cooler, due to better airflow for it. So all in all not sure whats happening in Furmark with these drivers.

Overall though these are the best drivers I've found, both in Vista 64 and Win 7.

On a side note: Why are so many people complaining about the lack of features in Win 7 Drivers? The OS is not even OUT yet. We have 1 to 2 more ATI driver releases before Win 7 goes public, so if the drivers at time of public release are crap, then I'd say complain all you want!

BTW: Howdy all. Been lurking around these boards for years, finally had time to actually post. :P

9.7 did strange things for me too in Furmark - none of the problems you mentioned, but temps were higher than with 9.6, and FPS was about 150% more - my average on 9.6 for 1920, 2xAA is about 29, on 9.7 it jumps to 37.

DemiGod is good. I still suck at playing multiplayer though. :( I can play with 2 hard AI allies against 3 nightmare computers and an easy 4th computer, but just suck it up bigtime multiplayer. :(

I've finally isolated the corruption and flickering issues I've been troubleshooting - looks like it's the driver package. Packages after 9.3 are causing texture corruption and flickering issues under 3D load, 9.2 is perfectly fine.

I found some white-screen flickering and snow a few days after installing 9.7. Happened when I entered 3D mode. Uninstall/reinstall didn't fix anything.

I should note that I did crash my computer and display drivers a couple times before that due to overclocking. Restored an earlier image to my drive to make sure I didn't destroy a card - 9.4 works fine. I'll try 9.7 again when I get the chance to see if that was a fluke.

For those of you with 9.7 issues, 9.8 should be out within the next 10 or so days I would imagine.

To those of you having issues with CCC, what about running the 9.7s and an older CCC?
