New Athlon 2 x4s at 45w no L3. No L3 might not hurt crunching and should make for cheaper price as the Athlon name inplies. 45w for 2.2-2.3gz would be a cool cruncher.

why are the clockspeeds so low? if you oc them to the same frequency they are likely to have pretty much the same power draw as their equivalents with l3 cache.

No L3 cache will have an impact on performance, that's for sure . Question is how much ?

Since L3 is shared cache among cores and you run 4 different threads, no sharing of data, why would L3 matter?

i just think that clock speeds are too slow, its a 30% oc to get the 945 which is 95watts an i assume it needs voltage adjustments. would be quite a step in process build quality if it does 3ghz without more volts. nevertheless im interested in how it performs in points/watt and points/ghz

Won't matter at all for crunching...

The low clocks are to keep it within 45W TDP, higher clocks will be released with 65W TDP.

So if you disable the L3 cache on your 720 BE , crunching output won't be affected? I have my doubts . Please try it :)

I thought L3 would be of some use because even though the cores might not "share" the data, they still can all use parts of the L3 for themselves, right? Or am I mistaken

my thoughts exactly.

my idea is that 1.5mb are lost, whereas the denebcores can process data in that 1.5mb without sending it to the ram

If the X4 620 is within 5% of the 8x0 Phenoms, it'll be a winner.

Well the last time I was going to get a 955 I bumped into a couple of cute Opties. We partied and had a good time so that was cool but again as I plan on a 955 I read about these low watt x4s. If the price is low enough, and it might not as they are so low at 45w, I'll get one and see how they do on the KillAWatt and OCing and WCG. Wanting another party er I mean project.:D

Just cause she's cool and calm don't mean she can't party! ;)

now back onto the topic of computers...
