dunno how to start...after several eventful days...we've lost the legend and a few good benchers...

its pure against the greeks and the mighty hipro5 2003 and aquamark gold member :)

on another thought...

use paint.net to water mark and save lol - diuring save gives you size info and a slider for quality - I usually like to get them 200kb

This may be a funny contest in forums, but once you add points, people will start cheating, and the problem is you can't verify which cooling was used.

i bought it last night. around 11pm...last i checked was 11am 4 blocks..still intact...30lbs 30$ :D

i hope i still have 20lbs later :D

i got towels over them..i think that prolongs their solid live before sublimination

i see the classified have lower QPI multi than the bloodrage it's probably really handy for those high clocking session, i'm @ 4ghz QPI with the lowest multi @ 4.7ghz with the BR.

w00t i found a place carrying dice, about 20min from home!!!
now i need to volt mod my BR, volt mod my 4870, get a temp sensor for my DMM and get a CPU pot :D

mkultra, you won't need a temp probe for dice, just shove dice into the pot and keep it full :D common DMMs can only measure as low as -40 degrees so it would be useless anyway.

i encouraged a fellow XS memberfor the pot, bartx cheaper than the "branded" one
should be more than enough with a 21 multi

and i went with EK acetal block, i'm sure i could have sex with this block OMG it is sexy :shrug:

There is a section but not visible to the regular user groups, I am trying to bring some reform to how we have our team set up and kickign around ideas, so please a little patients is needed as I want to get things squared away and have a smooth ride with it... Everything you have stated is already being discussed or has been brought up... So please sit tight as backroom talks are afoot and we have some decent ideas on this ...

i think 5ghz on dice is a given, i ordered my dice for next weekend and i got another w3520 on the way this one is crapping out i think, i've swapped everything but the CPU and still get BSOD.

I am a new member that just joined the team. I am into benchmarking but I do not have any idea where to start when it comes to Xtreme cooling. Right now I am runnign aitr on my stuff but I was looking to go with DICE to start but I was not really looking to start out with DICE with my i7 setup. Maybe an old rig and try it that way. Anyone have some suggestions or any ideas to offer to the new guy.

excellent to have you...

1. cpu pot... koolance has one.
2. bookstore get all the kneaded eraser they have...or any artstore..
3. ac ceramique get like 5 tubes remounts are necessary..
4. some tube insulators kingpincooling has some tube insulators
5. dice and ventilation in your place..you don't want breathing most of it..its poison ...1 big beach towel to wrap it..and a cooler to store it..it lasts 2-4days if the towel and cooler is good. a hammer too.. and some paper towels...

that sums up what i usually do

what is your mobo? the mobo is key here...i have the gb extreme x58 and it sucks donkey balls...

I have a gigabyet ud5 I enjoy mine but the hard mod is needed for 230+ bclk. So that is why i am looking to go with a classified if I can sell this one.

i gave a deposit on my dice today, they said they've been screwed in the past and don't want to end up with dice and no one to buy it. I,ll be picking it up friday to bench friday night saturday.
Can't believe i'll loose my subzero virginity :D
but with my lack of experience at subzero temps and without my Dom GT i don't expect much, It will be more a learning session the classified have some issue with my g-skill i think, i cannot boot in decent timings over ~1300/1400, i'll have to look into this.
But i'm sure i can rank up some point in pcmark05 and wprime

using the classified makes me love my BR more everyday, man that board can be picky.

If you can even find any info to do the mod, I have asked, emailed etc. with no luck. I have 5 X58 gigas that are useless for benching, will not buy anymore... :shakes:

i'd really appreciate it hondacity, i haven't reached more than 240 in my limited time i tried with a low multi, those cpu or ram bsods are making me crazy and i'm about to murder some silicon

one thing i've noticed...

cpu crash is..instant bsods...

ram crash is...when the screen freezes then bsods...

here are my quick settings..i use this for most of my runs...ht off and ht on

not really loose, but ummmm just change the em to 8-8-8 or 9-9-9

with watercooling and good ambients i'd go 1.55v maxx on vcore :) its suicide...

i mostly did some trial and error and learned lots of stuff
overall it went pretty good and fun :D, can't wait to get my dom gt back tho. This g-skill kit is not in the same league

i stayed within e-leet 1.6 max vcore, i tried disabling HT and couldn't get 250 either, i guess it just need more juice or the higher QPI multi from the xeon will stop me from going further

i'm all out of dice :(

i did score some points this weekend, but i'm very limited by my ram. I'll wait to get my Dominator GT to make another session it was fun and frustating weekend overall.

the instability from the ram or imc killed a lot of seemingly good runs. I beated a few of my scores posted on hwbot but i didn't had time to take a screenie.

i experienced something very wierd when setting 248blck x21 the qpi/uncore/core speed jumps around forth and back and i can't barely move my mouse or do anything, really wierd.

yes i have the same problem...the multiplier jumps..thats the problem with high vcore....(turbo is actually no stable with high vcore)

solution:

..go thru the voltage increments.....example like vcore...1.4..then raise it to 1.45..then raise it to 1.55...then increase bclk..by 1mhz..then adjust vcore again...don't do 1.8v :D

i sawpped my new w3520 and no POST, just FF on the debug led. I though ok the cpu is DOA, put the old ones into the socket, boot...FF again.
OMG i killed my classified, removed the old cpu take a look at the pins and one of them seem a bit out of place, use a tiny screwdriver to pry it a bit put the new w3520 and f3-f6-f8 that's better :D

moral of the story, take care when installing a cpu into a vertical mobo :)
so far so good with the new CPU, i can install stuff i couldn't before like gpu drivers DOH!, also mkvtoolnix don't ask me why this one but each time i tried to install this app i had a BSOD. Now fingers crossed to see the bsod go away, i'm so tired of that :banana::banana::banana::banana:.

i got the exact same batch i brought before see sig, i guess anitec.ca doesn't sell those much i should have asked to get one from the back of the shelf :D

you're right it might be a good thing at least i know what to expect if it's close to the other one, i just have high expectation i guess i know it's not a bad chip. but that silver medal is killing me :D
i couldn't boot with QPI in slow mode it was staying on windows boot screen forever

I'll wait a few days to be 100% sure it was the cause of my bsod and i can sell it for very little money, it still clock good i did all my run this weekend with it, you just ignore ny bsod saying bad pool caller/fileinfo.sys/apc index mismatch

or i'll try to expose the die, either by removing the ihs or sanding it :D

i have my theory on what killed it or i should say damaged the IMC, on the bloodrage before g25 bios when you enabled XMP profile it was setting 1.85v vdimm automatically and I've booted like this a few times without noticing it. If all the warnings about the .5v difference between vdimm and vtt are true it might the cause.

new one "000012967 045BE 00010"
old one "000012967 040B7 00030"

EDIT:

when on auto, vcore of the new w3520
1.10 bios -1.080 DMM turbo off
bios = 1.15 with turbo on
old one was set to 1.2 by bios on auto, interesting, seems to run a bit hot tho for this voltage or i screw up when installing my CPU block(which might be highly possible seeing what i did earlier :D )

For nVidia cards.

Open RivaTuner>>Power User tab>>Rivatuner\nVidia\Global>>LODBiasRange, 15 is the highest value that will do anything using higher has no effect but lower can help with selecting the number you want.

After you enter the desired value in LODBiasRange go back to the tab labeled "Main". Under "Driver settings" click the expand arrow thing and select the green X with a purple background(DirectDraw and Direct 3d settings).

The slider labeled as Mipmap LOD bias adjustment is the one you want to play with. Before the changes under Power User it would only go up to 3 it should go to 15 now.:up:

dual x5570 is brutal jcool!

i got 8th place and 5ish points for 1x 4870 in 3DMV, not bad for stock cooling :), i settled for 4.5 for 3d bench. I don't think i'll be able to go higher on water and with the high temps
i wish i had some decent GPUs to bench

i received an email from corsair today, they shipped my DOM GT 1866...can't wait to get it back and to see how those "new" hyper elpida performs, then i'll put my new w3520 under dice with it.

but that chip is crazy, it hits 95/100oC on water @ 1.45vcore when encoding with x264, very bad chip for 24/7

Gulftown is 6 cores / 12 threads, and will run on both single and dual LGA1366 mobos. So depending on how many I can get, we may see some even better wprime :rofl:

Are there any real tweaks for wprime BTW, apart from using the right OS? Server 08 and esp. XSOS seem to be real fast already (the Quad Opteron is on server 08). Unfortunately I can't get a gold cup for the 5570's, they are early B0 step and have no working Turbo mode (otherwise I'd get a +2 multi boost and destroy the 2 minute mark :eek: )

Oh well, some day soon :D

Anyway, what other benches give some decent points? Should I try for PC Mark or something? I do have an SSD etc, but IIRC PCMark is too stupid to use multipe CPU cores and GPUs right?

Yeah, bench PCMark05 again with some SSDs, that will increase your score very much, and don't run XP, it's too slow for the Transparent Window test.
Run Vista or Win7 which might give even better scores.

Gpu @ 1.5v and mem is between 2.2 and 2.3v(not sure of excact figure without putting `em back on board. I could have more scores to submit, haven`t checked thru all my old files yet. Lost a lot of backups when a drive went belly up. My fault for not not backing up regularly. Just got a new 7900GS but when i opened it a small part fell off. it still runs but doesn`t clock very well. Pretty sure it can be soldered back on. not sure what it does though.

below zero the classified is the king without any question
why? because of the high blocks it can reach and it was designed with subzero cooling in mind.

but i really want to do the pcie mod for the bloodrage and see if i can get close to what the classi can do.
or i'll just sell it and buy a gpu or something in place

Hm.. I cannot seem to get the dual and single 4870's to work together. As soon as I enter any 3Dmark, it says "display changed" in 06 after 2-3 seconds and "renderer lost window" in 03 etc.
I already re-installed Catalyst 9.6 and tried tto plug the DVI into both cards. Anyone? :(
Don't know, I ran a 4870 512mb with a 4870X2 about a year ago with the 8.10 drivers or something close and it was fine... It had trouble when I was trying to overclock them...

Solved that by synching the clock rates with rivatuner (single card ran 50mhz higher ram).

Still I didn't have much luck overall. System kept shutting down for no apparent reason, I am blaming the pretty new 900W OCZ GameXstream.

Anyway, I did 03 and 06 runs, and while both scores aren't good they are a start. Unfortunately I can't seem to use the 03 result - no matter how often I click on "make public" in the ORB, it just won't do it. Wtf? :(
I ran them both on a Corsair 750TX PSU... :ROTF: :shrug: It did it...
I think you can only make a certain number of results public for the free version of each 3DMark benchmark then you can't make it public any more. :( You'd have to buy the advanced version...

Well it was the first 03 result I ever submitted... I gained a little with 06 and Vantage submissions, getting over 100 points thus reaching my first goal. Still I am a little disappointed, not used to being this far behind the rest :D :shakes:

The most important tweak for 3DMark 03 is in my opinion to run it directly after a reboot, the second run is always worse. When you've found new settings, reboot, and run the test, this will always give you a better score.

Thanks man. I was getting ready for Vantage runs but my Q6600 suddenly started overheating on 2 cores. Tried remounting 13 times with no luck. I ended up lapping it to get a better contact and now i have no thermal paste left. Got 23 cards here waitin to play. Might switch back to XP for a week or two, started testing some Team Extreem ram and its lookin good so far. Smashed my personal best 32m time by 3 minutes:D

chew, i think you'll have to break the bank for the mobo, the classy is pretty much the only board being able to get you high blck. Otherwise there's a pcie mod on the bloodrage and a GB one(don't remember which one) to help getting higher blck.

hey bud only the classifieds are non hard mod required to run 250mhz bclk... with the 920/w3520 you need high bclk to have fun...if you have the i950/w3540 asus and dfi and msi will be ok with 220-230mhz bclks

i have the 760.
i haven't been able to pass both GPU test in 3DMV with stock gpu settings so far,i just rebooted with stock settings everywhere to do a fresh start, let's see if it works. Kinda frustating.

It's a pleasure to do the daily update when there are some scores to show! :yepp:

How high did you run PCIe frequency? I've seen people use as high as 150MHz in single card mode without problems.
I think you should rather try another driver, Andre and Vince are using 181.20 for their AM3 GTX 285 SLI setups, that should be a good start! ;)

Today was full of good scores:
Of course loonym already mentioned it, jcool was able to complete the WPrime 32m benchmark in 4s and 460ms with his 2x Xeon X5570 system running at 3038MHz.
Hondacity has posted a new personal best in 06, reaching 31858 marks.
Last but not least, mk-ultra is still playing with his new toy and he is posting scores in 05, 06, Vantage and AM3.

EDIT: I just noticed we passed 6600 points today!!! :up: :up: :up:

look at mk_ulta..his 295s are runing at 775mhz and his card is aircooled...mine can do high clocks on stock air as well
i've benched everything at 756MHz linked with RAM at 1215; and some tests at 774MHz linked :)
with water i think 850 would be doable on mine too....

Nail polish works wonder on DI guys.....I wouldn't use it for close relation to cpu socket on ln2 but for DI it's :up: you can bench with a pool on the board.

It cleans up with acetone easy if your worried about the board looking umm "clean"

Today jcool posted his score for WPrime 1024m, his system is still running at ~3GHz and he was able to complete the benchmark in 2min 7sec and 50ms, which means his score made in into the top 20 of WPrime 1024m! Congrats! :up:
mk-ultra is posting his scores for GTX 295 in 03 and 05!
The last two are members who did not post that much up to now, but maybe it changes now: MassiveOverkill has posted a 06 score for GTX 275 SLI, powered by his i7 at 4GHz, and Xtreme_Solid is already pushing the new i5 platform in SPi 32m!

i'll look more closely to what it can do in 3d/2d benchs before this friday
