Congratz Dan, awesome news you were accepted to your Masters program.

Sam glad to see you will be benching again, I ended up having to RMA the 3870K, but once it gets back I will test it on an Asus A75 FM1 Pro board, maybe htpc duty lol.

I just score some older Hynix CFR kits, 2133 c9 RipZ and half of a 2400 c9 RipZ kit (I got yours Roy:D) so some CFR binning is in order.
I don't even know why it died lol.
Sorry about that. It was on the stock cooler ><

I'm back from ROG Camp, it was a perfect combination of delicious food, nice people and great hardware - to make a long story short it was great fun! :)

Asus brought a few M5Es and HD 7970s and five 3770ks. stummerwinter pretested them and chose two for LN2 testing, the other three were pretty crappy ( ~1.45V @ 5GHz 32M ). Originally some setups should have been build using all the components so everyone could try the hardware on air, but SoF and stummerwinter prepared their systems for LN2 and somehow everyone gathered around them. :D
SoF ran GTX 580 triple SLI and stummerwinter tested both CPUs from Asus under LN2, later on he switched to his personal CPU but all three were facing a CB at -120?C, so after switching CPUs, memory and PSU he had to change the board. I was pouring LN2 for SoF on his setup, and apart from some other scores he managed to set a new triple card Unigine Heaven DX9 WR (http://hwbot.org/submission/2344374_sof_unigine_heaven___basic_preset_3x_gefor ce_gtx_580_8305.98_dx9_marks). Well done Chris!

After about two hours of benching SoF had to stop benching and thaw up, so I grabbed a M5E, the three CPUs that were left ( two 3770k and one 3570k ES ) and some memory that Asus brought and tested the chips for their IMC capabilities. We knew we were off to a great start after the first 3770k gave us "23" at 1200MHz.
After switching CPUs to the second 3770k I was able to boot 1200MHz but 1300MHz ended in "55". I asked for some of SoF's memory and chose a GeIL 2400 CL11 kit which had Hynix CFR for sure. Switching the memory made booting at 1400MHz possible and also running 32M at that frequency. Trying to boot 1466MHz ended in "23" again, but I got 1449.1MHz through BCLK tuning.
The 3570k was a bit better, booting at 1400MHz was fine and I got 1452MHz through BCLK tuning. After booting at 1466MHz gave me "55" I switched memory again but even with some G.Skill 2600 CL10 with Samsung ICs I wasn't able to boot at 1466MHz. On the 1400MHz divider I got 1450MHz. Neither of the kits was able to boot at CL12.

These are all the validations I made:

Yeah, it was great to meet other overclockers and bench a bit, there should also be a lot more photos coming in the next few days.

This event was hosted for the first time, part one was held in November, part two last weekend. I hope it will be done again in the future. :)

Seems like I managed to post in the entire wrong section somewhere further up in the forums, so I will C&P the whole thing into this way more suited thread as it seems:

Hello fellow combatants! :D

I know I am probably the most inactive member over at Hwbot, not having uploaded a single score for like 3 years or even more, but my plans are to do some benching every now and then again. Due to several reasons, I just left the team I originally founded and at which I did my part on reaching global #1 a good while ago (team PC Games Hardware that was). Now I joined the team where everything started for me back in the days, XtremeSystems.

Link to my Hwbot profile: http://hwbot.org/user/fr3ak_2/

Due to my lack of infinite money, I am not aiming for one of the top spots, but give me some more time and I will be back in the game of silly numbers and mass destruction of lifetime again :)

On to conquering the universe and beyond! :toast:

The stages have been updated again:

Based on the feedback in this thread, I've update the competition requirements. Consider these 99% finished (only official requirements are on the competition page - this is discussion).

SC1 #1: Tualatin -> Coppermine (Tualatin was not available in 2000)
SC1 #7: Kentsfield B2 -> Kentsfield B3, except Q6600 (No Kentsfield B2, Q6600 not available in 2006)
SC1 #8: Manchester, Toledo, Windsor -> Brisbane (G1), Egypt, Italy, Orleans (F2), Windsor, Santa Ana (F2), Santa Rosa (F2) (AM2 and equivalent Opteron platform was highest end available from AMD)
SC2 #1: Tualatin -> Coppermine (Tualatin was not available in 2000)
SC2 #1: Radeon 8000 -> Radeon 7000, except R7500 (Radeon 8000 was not available in 2000, Radeon 7500 was not available either)
SC2 #4: Toledo -> Windsor, no 6000/6400+ (Windsor was competitor of Conroe and AMD's most high-end platform at that time)
SC2 #4: Allow GF8 series, only 8800GTX/GTS640 (both cards were available at the end of 2006)
SC3 #4: Kentsfield B2 -> Kentsfield B3, except Q6600 (No Kentsfield B2, Q6600 not available in 2006)
SC3 #5: Manchester, Toledo, Windsor -> Brisbane (G1), Egypt, Italy, Orleans (F2), Windsor, Santa Ana (F2), Santa Rosa (F2) (AM2 and equivalent Opteron platform was highest end available from AMD)
SC4 #1: Depends on the CatZilla official launch date

Got a HD 5870 capable of 1300/1350 at least, and a Phenom 560 capable of 6400+ 3D - I'll definitely be doing that!

I think I might still have my decent gulftown (6500 for AM3), but I'd have to find someone willing to borrow me a R3BE.

Sounds great, maybe you could run some 1M too.

I have no idea about the time frame of the different stages yet, the competition page is not up. Depending on the time frame I'll be able to take care of the Conroe/Kentsfield stage, but since Q6600 is excluded it will just be a Conroe stage for me. :D

Voted..#1 option, leave it as it currently is

1 is my vote. or method 3. you take the highest clock from each member and have the 2 top members of each team and have a live vid cam stream of them cleaning off all the insulation and conformal etc off the boards and check with a blacklight to make sure all the residue is off. then they have to send their board back to rma replacements. the guy that gets his replacement board back from the rma 1st wins the contest.

Dave use Server 2k8 non R2 it is a stripped version of Vista. You will probably have to go to the System Properties then to the Advanced Tab and then Performance and then Advanced tab and make sure it is set to adjust for best performance of applications and not background

Chips themselves are limited to a 34 multi on all cores, 36 on 4 cores, 38 on 1-2 cores.
On the older scores I was limited to 100BCLK..This board has settings to 106BCLK
The screen shots could vary due to EIST( speed step) at the time they were taken.
Wait till late next week..I have a new bios coming..

FX-8120 planned for this week, thanks for Daveburt716 for sending it :)
Early batch (release), runs hot, goes fast with not so much voltage...seems like a good candidate for LN2, I have an itch for 8 GHz and faster DDR3 speed...

Also 565 BE, wPrime 32M/1024M 3 core global points.

Got some more points for the team today with my 955, also missed 1st place 32M by 1 second :(

I broke top 400 for Xtreme OC league...

Just thought I should share my UCBench scores since all of them are #1 in their respective category:

http://imageshack.us/a/img819/8002/e8600ucbench6252mhz.jpg

http://imageshack.us/a/img842/4381/e6600ucbench4918mhz.jpg

http://imageshack.us/a/img208/4500/e8200ucbench4721mhz.jpg

The E8600 was doing okay, though I'm about 100 - 150 MHz off from what the pre-owner did. Not sure if the board or I am to blame here, probably me since the board has done higher FSB speeds with the E8400. -.-
The E6600 was much better than expected, I already knew it was a good chip and I had promised the pre-owner to try for 5 GHz under LN2, in the end I could do 1M at 5 GHz and validate at 5.1 GHz.
I bought the E8200 on ebay recently, without much pretesting I quickly checked the max FSB and it did ~600 MHz on air, but on LN2 it turned out to be a rather bad chip, I could only validated 8 x 615 MHz once and all the benchmarks had to be run much lower. CB at -105?C and CBB at -95?C didn't make it any better... :(

And a pic of my setup:

I ran 3DMark03 as well but nothing worth submitting. What temps were you using for the E6600 runs?

Don_Dan
04-16-2013, 09:31 AM
CB on the E6600 was at -135?C idle, -140?C heavy load, I tried to keep it around -130?C most of the time. CBB at -125?C.

MTP04
04-16-2013, 04:19 PM
That CBB is nice and low. One of my good e8600's has a sweet spot at around -140 but has a CBB of like -60 lol. Its a pain to warm it up just to get it going again and then pull the temp back down. The chips worth it though.

Don_Dan
04-18-2013, 12:26 PM
A CCB at -60?C sounds like a major pita, my E8600 coldbugs at -145?C and boots at -135?C, but doesn't clock as well as yours. Can't have everything I guess. :D

2.2vcore and 2.9 input, I got a bit generous with the volts lol

We both killed them the same night lol, called Roy and was like I think I did something stupid:D

Stuck on 78, and so was he except he used sane voltages and water, while I used LN2 and not so safe voltages, so not quite sure what the true cause was.

Another small post-Computex news article to inform you that the 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme benchmark can be benched for HWBoints from June 8, 2013. The benchmark has been enabled for world record, global and hardware points. Enabling points for the benchmark follows on a poll we held amongst members to which most responded positively.

Just saw ure thread. Same here. But my voltages were all low n aircooling
4.5ghz core n uncore at bclk 125@1.2365v each& 2250 7-10-7-28@1.65v-1.67v &Vccin 1.95v.
No issue on bios 0503. Ran same timings last week. Happened on 0017.

Suspect bios with vccin n vttddr.
Before on 2133 i could run it at 1.75v with 0.75v to 0.8v on vttddr
On bios 0017 was 1.9v n 0.8.
So according to log change whatever vttddr bugfix. Was not a fix

HWBot is running two competitions this month:

ALLBenchmark July OC Relaxation Contest (http://hwbot.org/competition/allbenchmark_contest/)

Those who have a good memory will remember that almost a year ago, around October 2012, we posted the news of the coming of a new benchmark named Catzilla. The ambitious project of creating a benchmark that should compete with Futuremark's 3DMark lasted longer than anyone expected. It turns out it's not that easy to get a completely new benchmark off the ground. At HWBOT, we were and still are very excited about the benchmark now called "ALLBenchmark". Without having tested too much, it seems to be a 3D benchmark with a lot of influence from system components such as storage and memory. We called it the Aquamark of this generation, referring to the competition it brings to the 3DMark series. Originally, the plan was to integrate the ( Catzilla ) ALLBenchmark submissions directly with our site, using our benchmark API functionality. However, that turned out to be a troublesome process.

But we are not yet ready to give up on this benchmark!

Over the past weeks, the staff has been discussing on how to move forward with the benchmark. Both the HWBOT and ALLBenchmark team spent a lot of effort on trying to get the integration to work and giving up on it would mean the loss of so much effort. However, if something does not work out as you want it to work, it is sometimes better to cut your losses and move on. That is exactly what we did. We cleaned up the backend of the benchmark submission code and prepared the following four presets for submission:

ALLBenchmark - 576p (Kitty)
ALLBenchmark - 720p (Cat)
ALLBenchmark - 1080p (Tiger)
ALLBenchmark - 1440p (Catzilla)

Currently none of the four presets will generate points, but we will be closely monitoring the activity rate as well as the feedback from the community on the consistency of the benchmarks. As it requires a paying subscription to run any other preset than the 576p (previously Kitty), this will be the priority preset if we enable points for the benchmark. The rules for the benchmarks have been updated as well; you can find them here.

As a celebratory gesture to get the benchmark going at HWBOT, we have set up a small relaxation competition with ALLBenchmark for this month. The different stages all have their own easy-going limitation and should bring a nice challenge to everyone who wants to play something new. The stages are:

#1: 576p (Kitty) Single GPU
#2: 576p (Kitty) AMD CPU
#3: 576p (Kitty) IGP
#4: 576p (Kitty) Dual Core CPU
#5: 576p (Kitty) Top Score

Intel XTU Overclocking Challenge (http://hwbot.org/competition/xtu_contest/)

To celebrate the launch of the XTU project cooperation between Intel? and HWBOT, we are hosting the first ever XTU overclocking competition in July. The competition consists of two parts: a desktop contest, and a mobile contest. To participate, download the Intel? XTU software application, install it on your Ivy Bridge or Haswell system, run the benchmark, and submit your score. Easy!

Once you have run the benchmark, you can enter the competition by either clicking Compare in the XTU benchmark application or saving the file to submit manually later. If you choose to submit directly from the XTU application, make sure to choose Compete when uploading the result to HWBOT. If you want to save your benchmark file to submit later, check out the how-to guide on the forums (click). Note that the last step is a little bit different, as you want to submit to the competition and not the general rankings.

That's a common problem for WPrime and PCMark on Win7, but as you found out running as admin fixes it.

The hardware was solid, no deaths of anything on any of the rigs (minus cpu's lol), and we are talking 10+ hour sessions, the board is solid. Stage 3, Nov 1 ? Dec 23, Vantage Dual GPU (i5+AMD/ATI): for this stage only Core i5 CPUs are allowed. The following video cards families are allowed: Radeon HD 6000, Radeon HD 5000, and Radeon HD 4000. Per country three scores are required, one with each GPU family

I have a pair of hd4850s and an i5 3870k. Funny thing, just last week I was benching these 2 cards but there was a problem. I was getting less points with cfx enabled than with single card! I just gave up.....may have just been a driver issue idk.

dude you have no idea. I'm going to work up a parody of ac/dc "for those about to rock" (for those about to overclock)
this is going to be the official xs team anthem. its gonna be a smash hit. this is going to be the song you guys play in the background when you are benching. think of the AU team. Perfect my fav oc team. the fly out and bench together and party all night and listen to ac/dc. I made a USA map of the xs members. please copy and add onto it.
we need to get together and have a oc party.

Here is what I came up with for the official xs team anthem. the best line is "We ain't no overclock legends
cause We're just benching for today"

"For Those About To Overclock (We Salute You)"

We insulate tonight for tomorrows overclock fight

Stand up and be counted for what you are about to receive
We are the benchers
We'll give you all the hardware you need
Hail hail to the good times
the overclock has got the right of way
We ain't no overclock legends
cause We're just benching for today

For those about to overclock, we salute you
For those about to overclock, we salute you

We bench at dawn on the front line
LN2 right outta the blue
The mem timings are tight with a waza bite
the tweakers will roll and rock tonight

For those about to overclock, we salute you
For those about to overclock, we salute you
For those about to overclock, we salute you, yes we do
For those about to overclock, we salute you

Salute

massman's for hire checking for the liar's
Ready and aimed at you
Pick up your thermos and load your containers
For a goddamn 32 million run salute
For those about to overclock, we salute you
XS.. no means yes

We salute you

For those about to overclock
We salute you
For those about to overclock
take a screen shot
for the H... dubaya bot
I got my f1 from kingpin and I'm ready to win

We salute you

We salute you, c'mon

For those with the crazy Vcore, we salute you
For those uploading their score, we salute you
For those about to pour, we salute you
For those disabling cores, we salute you

bench, bench
pour, more

For those who clock
For those who rock
Those who bench high
And those who bench baked

We salute you
We salute you
We salute you

Fire

Did I mention I can sing much like Brian Johnson?

Here's what I would tweak the song with some alternate lyrics :p:

"For Those About To (Over)'clock (We Salute You)"

We insulate tonight for the overclock fight

Stand up and be counted for what you are about to achieve
We are the benchers
Gonna give you all the tweaks that you need
Hail hail to the good times
XS has got the right of way
We ain't no legends
On the HardwareBot
We're just benching for today

For those about to 'clock, we salute you
For those about to 'clock, we salute you

We bench at dawn on the front line
LN2 right outta the blue
Our timings are tight with the waza bite
The forums will roll and rock tonight

For those about to 'clock, we salute you
For those about to 'clock, we salute you
For those about to 'clock, we salute you, yes we do
For those about to 'clock, we salute you

Salute

Now massman's for hire looking for all of the liars
Ready and aimed at you
Now pick up your slack don't cheat those screenshot facts
For a 20 litre Pi salute
For those about to 'clock, we salute you
For those about to 'clock, we salute you
For those about to 'clock, we salute you

We salute you

Yeah, yeah, c'mon!
For those back from the store, we salute you
For those about to pour, we salute you
For those uploading scores, we salute you
For those with crazy cores, we salute you

Pour! Pour!
Clock! Clock!

For those who lead
For those who bleed
Those benching high
Those benching low
We salute you
We salute you
We salute you

Fire

@Don_Dan - some points play in US favor right now for having more submissions in a certain stage, points would be much different if calculated solely on the averaging...

Vantage Dual GPU, Aquamark, 32M...hmm

Unless he can put in submissions for everything!
I've got two HD 6970 with waterblocks sitting ready for Vantage, not sure if I'll have quite a CPU, could pick up a 2500K.

These stages require several submissions, can one person submit multiple for each stage?
I think I can have a worthwhile contribution though I'm a bit down on time/power/shtuff

i considered benching again for cc... then decided i cant. have to worry about too many other things at the moment. life has been flipped upside down for a little while now, but finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. taking a break now to bench would cause me to lose focus, and there is too much on the line right now for that.

I have a wounded 3570k or a 4670k if you do both cards for the Vantage stage.

BeepBeep2

I would take the the 3570K but school is priority right now, not a good idea to have you ship something just for it to sit around because I have to take care of more important things first.
I still have that MIVE but I either need a sandy bridge CPU to reflash IME/bios or buy new bios chips. I can't even remember if it has Ivy compatible bioses. If it does it would work as/is but with locked BCLK :(

Just don't have cash for more/new hardware, education is so expensive ffs.
