I know guys that have wired up 120 mm fans to DC power supplies to get some cooling at their tech stations, but yea that still is pretty funny. I think I would just get one of those laptop stand coolers instead :yepp:

i like the all black look with the black grill.

i dont know why i'd need it connected to USB tho, maybe for those guys w/ external radiators. this fan(s) + USB hub would be a good idea

Is it possible to cut the wire and connect a 38mm thick one instead? (extra cooling for me)

I'd buy it to put near my mouse pad. My hand also needs a heat sink. Is anyone making them yet? Ianh?

 Actually, I know what you mean... having my hand on my mouse for hours at a time can get pretty hot down there.

the only use that i could see would be mounting it to cool an entertainment cab with a 360 or ps3

I saw a modded mouse that had vents in it and a little fan

I actually made a USB fan one time last summer when it was hot out and I had it rigged so it blew air on me.

I can see that thing killing usb ports unless its real low wattage.

yates are typically .2A so thats only going to be 1W, u can run a whole laptop HDD from a usb port and thats 5W

I run a 280mm fan on usb for my dvd player/ surround sound system. Keeps things nice and cool in the small space.

Now I have some use for the 30 (joking) some odd USB ports in the back of my PC. Fill 'em up with USB Yate's and make your own desktop wind farm. :)

I have a 120mm antec tri-cool wired to a scrapped usb cable, I made a little stand out of .035" stainless TIG welding wire. I use it to cool myself during summertime.

A USB port is limited to 0.5 amps (2.5 Watts) according to spec.

Pretty sure these are only intended for non-PC use. Such as with a PlayStation or XBOX (both which have USB).

I have 5 s-flex fans on my entertainment center. 1 for the cable box/router (at&t), 2 for the PS3, 2 for the receiver. I hooked them to a fan controller thats connected to an AC/DC converter. You can find a converter with a molex connector and other stuff like this at coolerguys.com (http://www.coolerguys.com/)

I just use an old 12VDC adapter with enough current rating and cut/splice wires :D
