Haven't folded for years, thought i would join the team.

Got 4Ghz Xeon W3520, 4x 1.6ghz Pentium DC's 1mb L2 cachers, and P4 HT running @ 3.4ghz

So thats 14 threads, plus I got a PII X4 940 soon and maybe a couple more laptops

Thanks, for some reason I have 2 of the exact same laptops with exact same config but one is only running 1 CPU? It's showing 2 but doesn't start a project for other CPU.

I have it set for 100% CPU usage also

Were you on the D2OL team back when Jeff put out that 1.6 LV xeons with Rodzilla?
Those were the days ....... ahh the fun oh the kitten would be so proud if they could have escaped the clutches of the demon Rod.

:welcome: I am sure you have already checked to make sure the "On multiprocessors, at most use:" is set to at least 2?

Welcome, I just came over from F@H myself. I have an I-7 920 @ 3.36 and a phenom 2 940 a 3.3 so far on it. I have 3 more phenom machines and an old athlon 64 that I could add, and i'm looking at building a cheap quad socket opteron from ebay currently. I have the wifes approval already...so that's the first step.

Thanks! For some reason my Xeon got 2 Human Prteome Folding - Phase 2 6.03 that got a "Computation Error"... out of something like 23 completed WU's it hasn't sent in yet. Strange since its 8hr prime stable, 3hr OCCT and 1hr LinX stable

Nice firepower! and :welcome:

And I might be wrong, but I believe with P4 it's better to disable HT...?

Thanks everyone!

Not sure, I remember back in 2003 when I folded it was faster with HT on. Anyone know for sure now days? I'll try it HT for few days then HT off maybe.

Human Prteome Folding - Phase 2 6.03 that got a "Computation Error"
this subproject is know to have issues for some (most) people running vista (both 32 and 64) so I wouldn't be concerned, just uncheck it from your project selection. With the i7 the HT on is a huge FTW, on an old P4 not so much.

Ya this Xeon (i7) crunches probably around 20x faster then the P4, maybe even more. The Pentium (Merom) DC's are very slow maybe even slower then the P4!!! Like each WU thread takes 8-10hrs to complete

Guess that makes sense I remember my P4 smoking my AXP's back in the day @ folding mostly just clock speed matters it seems

But dang this i7 just bangs through them like 1hr each thread!

Are my points right? Been running all comps 24/7 for 3 days...all 100% cpu usage

W3520 4ghz HT - 74,000pt - 26k a day??
P4 3.4ghz - 5,300pt - 1766 a day??
Both 1.6Ghz Meroms - 5,600pt - 1866 a day??

Depends on the projects ... you may have some/ lots of results sitting in PV (Pending Validation) because the other crunchers on those WUs have not finished yet.

Your W3520 should be up over 30k ppd once the PV starts to shake out.

Go to your "Results" page and flip through the Pending Validation (waiting for others to finish), Errors (happen when OC is too high) and also Inconclusive (which is usually OK, it just means WCG is not ready to accept everything you say blindly yet:-)
