Was XS Team number 26 just a few days ago? Now 24. Asking as I do not truest my memory and Free-DC does not show anything for movement in charts.

Looking at the other teams totals and our current output we should be moving up pretty quick.

the wu's do take a long time, but the boinc credit for each one reflects it. plus you get about a +1000 boinc point bonus when you turn it in within 24hrs. so if you're running 24/7, then you get a +1000 bonus for everything you turn in.

I'm getting about 5000 boinc for every wu completed. which is almost the same thing all 3 of my quads do combined on wcg boinc all day.

that's cool though, as long as you can turn it in within 24hrs of distribution, you still get the 1000pt bonus. that's a nice bonus on a 4k unit.

I guess if they give a couple units at a time though, it may always go past the bonus deadline. check you stats at gpugrid and see if you're getting the bonus...

OK guys..Da Goose has been messing around and has determined that GPUGRID is Core driven, shaders not so important. Too buzzed to provide scientific facts ATM ...
that's pretty cool. I haven't really messed with them yet just cuz I dont have a good ppd measurement like fahmon does.

but I run my
260 at 640/1150/1512 (stock core 576)
250's at 760/1100/1890 (stock core 738)

so I guess they are pretty oc'd on the the core as it is.

shadowwind
07-19-2009, 04:06 PM
the buzzed one got me thinking so i back the shader down on 1 computer and up the core to 754 and boosted mem a little now im at, core 754 shader 1864 and mem at 1120 lets see how it does. by uping the core.the shader i wasn't seeing any real big changes like i did on f@h so it could be a core ocing that makes the performance gain here they are different projects, :) when i was playing with the core a while back the evga s could hit 780 and they was stable with gts250s

I could be wrong RR, but I think that just means they recalled the wu. for whatever reason, maybe it already got returned or something. I dont think it affects your ppd too much, it just grabs it out of your queue and replaces it with a fresh one. my clients communicate every 2.5hrs, so I'm hoping none of those recalled wu's are in the middle of processing and I lose 6 hrs of work or whatever.. hopefully it's just a wu that was distributed, sat in queue then got recalled before it started crunching.

Redundant results (http://www.gpugrid.net/forum_thread.php?id=868#7762)

cool that answers my question too... they dont cancel out the ones that are already running. only the queued ones..

We are temporarily sending redundant results per WU.
As a consequence, when one of these results return successfully, the unsent or queued ones are canceled out, it should NEVER cancel the running ones.

This feature improves a lot the return time of the simulations we send and therefore it allows us to modify/improve/analyze the results sooner.

anyone know what the avg rac should be on a gtx 275? I should be getting more than a gtx 260, but I dont think so....

currently one of my gtx 275's is only getting approx 10k, 2 others are in the 14 ish ballpark according to my stats.

cards are still oc'd from F@H; 1620 on the shaders. Yesterday I bumped the cores up to 705 and mem to 1200ish, since I heard the core clock helps on gpu grid.

I have only been running gpugrid for about 20 days so far; seem to be dong ok; I am getting bonus's on just about every wu minus a few.

anyone got any ideas? is there anything else to get the most out of my cards for gpugrid?

I run my systems 24/7; they never shut down. I run 100% on the settings. I cant think of anyhthing else to do to get more ppd; except more cards :ROTF:

EDIT: I should probably add that the rig that seems to be doing best is on Vista 64bit and the other 2 systems are on Win7 RC 64bit and all 3 systems are I7 rigs; one of the 3 being a xeon cpu. all 3 rigs running @ 3.8ghz

I have 2 rigs with dual gts 250's.. one shows 20k and the other shows 15k. but the one that shows 15k has only been going since july 4th. I think those RAC numbers are ppd averages over like a 30 day period. so it takes about a month to show the true rac running 24/7. that's my theory anyway. fah was only like 7 days to get a true rac, so that threw me for a loop in the beginning, I was like "what is wrong with my cards?" but when I looked at the individual task logs, they looked to be producing pretty good.

if you setups have not been running 24/7 for a month, I suggest looking at the task log list on each setup and do a little check or manual calc http://www.gpugrid.net/hosts_user.php?userid=29800

yea, funny that I can get the 9600GSO on win32 on a AMD quad to work but a GTX260 on a frigging state of the art 8 core gainestown with cpu's that aren't even released yet won't do it..

anyone know what the avg rac should be on a gtx 275? I should be getting more than a gtx 260, but I dont think so....

All I can offer is to compare to one of my rigs. My systems are visible. My 275 clocks are less than yours @ 666/1512/1188 fed by the Q6600 in my sig.

I'm going to stick gpugrid as I hope everyone else does.

I believe we can do it OC.

I would really like to see this team get to #3 at least. From what I am reading we will loose GPUs to F@H this winter. I am thinking of adding 1 _MAYBE_ 2 GPUS this winter to help make up for it a little. I will probably keep one on F@H. First I am adding 4 more cores to WCG. I want to see WCG hold it's place and see GPUGrid and F@H increase position. Enough GPUs and some time and we will.

I wonder if, since we're using the Boinc client, if crunching with a gpu on any project under this client... makes it easier for WCG to allow gpu usage some day.

I think we can, I think we can, I think we can....:D

I want to add more to WCG, GPUgrid, anf F@H; my wife and utility bill tell me otherwise  :(

Yesterday my wife shut down her computer. I asked why she shut it off, she said: did you see the utility bill this month? I said, yes.
She says; its more now than it normally is in the winter and I can't afford to pay it anymore!

So my plans WERE to add another gpu now, another I7 rig asap, and more gpu's to follow. I'm not sure what to do now

Do I sneak in more equipment, or use the money on things she wants?
If it was up to her; I would have to shut down everything but 2 systems and sell of whats left over.:shrug:

I was going to buy another gpu on friday, until this all happened, now I'm not sure. I really wnt another gpu and add it to F@H so I dont fall too far behind, and I want to add more here to help us get to the top 3; anlong with getting myself into the top 3.

ok, I'm done crying now :ROTF:

So I guess you guys will have to add more cards and pick up my slack :D :yepp:

@ GameKiller It would be nice, but I actually hope that they don't becaue I would then have 3 progams to distribute gpu's too

Life is what happens to you as you are making plans. In your case it was wife that happened to you. Anyway, I fear my ambitions are more than I can handle as well. I am trying to stop talking about what I am going to do because I think I need to find out what it is I can do. I am just not sure. GPUs are power hogs. Twice the problem now because of heat but still power hogs in the winter. I will find out because I will push until I do find my limit.

@ Gamekiller, yes

im going to stay with the gpu grid we got some goals in motion ive got 6 gtx 260s and only one that works. i know they are working on it but its not fast enough for me hmmm if they let us stayed on the old 182.50 then the problem would be solved all my cards would be working. im thinking progress of this new
cuda 2.3 is a step backwards not forward. but im staying with it.:D

i needed to vent its been a bad ppd for me.:shakes:

I've got the 190.62's installed and have my GTX 295 up and running whenever my PC is on and I'm not gaming. I turn the PC off while I'm asleep but I should be able to contribute a decent amount of WUs.
