Hi guys,

I e-mailed Thermalright about a week ago asking if there would be a Socket-A Version of their SP-94 Pentium 4 Heatpipe heatsink and a day later, one of the nice employees of Thermalright told me that the "SP-97", for Socket-A would be released in the first weeks of december. Now if that's no good news to the air cooling community?

Think that would be better than my mcx462+ w/ 130 cfm fan? If it is major diff I may have to get me one.

I already ordered my new SP97 some days ago. Hope it'll arrive at the beginning of next week. :)

Update: Got my SP97 yesterday, but didn't have the time to test it yet.

I'll let you know how it works. I'll throw in one of my Delta 92x92x38mm fans and then we'll see what it can do. :D

I haven't recieved mine yet, but judging from the reviews there's nothing better, when it comes to air cooling.

Well, you won't believe it, but mine is lying in the drawer for about 2 weeks now and I didn't have the time to test it yet. :(

But, as the others already said, there doesn't seem to be a better socket-A heatsink upto now. :D

Any idea when you'll get around to testing it? :D

Good question! :D

I think next week perhaps if I can manage! I have to write some tests for my studies in the next weeks, so nothing's for sure. BUT, I'll do my best. It's burning under my fingers, but I just didn't have the time to test it out yet.

I have to admit that I could've already tested it, but I got used to not testing a heatsink before giving it a properly done lapping job to assure it's flat and shiny.

As I couldn't lap it, I couldn't test it. Too rough base for my liking. ;)

But I can say, that it won't hurt the cooler to wait another week. Unfortunately it hurts me if I think about it.:stick:

don't forget you earplugs. :D

I still haven't tested the Delta, can you believe that?

Delta's are true jets :D

I got crazy of the 120HP on a lan party (can u imagine, a delta 60HP isn't even noticeable with the amount of noise there) once. And it was at 7v ffs.

But, they perform VERY well ;)

Well, finally had the time to test the SP-97. All I can say is:

AWESOME

This heatsink, paired with a Delta 80x80x38mm EHE fan @5V (~2800 RPM) cooled my Barton 2200 MHZ at 1,65V Vcore to an amazing 40°C under full load, on an unmodded Abit NF7. :toast:

Edit: I have to add that I lapped the heatsinks base to a mirror finish, before installing it. ;)
