I am sure there is a logical answer to this....But have you ever wondered why video card producers don't put the GPU's on top of the pcb so we can see our beautiful waterblocks?

limits to the height of the card going "above" the slot

Motherboard design will not allow for that...cards would take up space allotted for the slot above it.

I guess since they are 2 slot cards...if they made one just for waterblocks that would not be an issue since you would not have to worry about the fans? The second slot could be on top?

Then you are talking about making a custom video card seeing I think W/C is still a niche market. I don't think there would be enough demand to run it down the assembly lines.

That equals higher costs from them and higher costs for us :(:yepp:

Actually think of it from a cooling perspective we all know hot air rises so if they put it on the top with the fan/HT above it using the regular 2 slot design and then tell all the noobs, "look now it cools better with this groundbreaking design". Sure the noobs in reality get nothing b/c it will not cool better but we get cool looking blocks and the gpu maker gets monies...

Also, just thought of something else. Look at your NB in relation to the video card. I know my Asus board doesn't have the clearance for a top mounted cooler

I still wish I could see the top of my waterblock that I paid way to much money for!;)

It's just a convention that everyone follows to minimise compatibility issues. Reverse ATX for you sir!

[I actually like the standard ATX better]

Mirror in bottom of case.

I made this cover since I have a small acrylic case and there is nowhere to hide wiring so this cover hides it, its plastic with mirror vinyl on top.

But Fragger..... that mirror has the thought processes working on something, thanks!

This community is great....you just prost a random thought and eventually come away with a mod:rolleyes::YIPPIE:
