I tried to attach to gpugrid with a gts250 in win7x64 on cuda 185.85 from http://www.nvidia.com/object/cuda_get.html using BOINC 6.6.28

and this is what I get: (what's going on? am I missing something?)

ok, so the client has to be uninstalled and reinstalled with the protected account turned off for it to work..

Correct. Glad you figured it out, Mike. Those messages will also appear if the severs are down or out of work--happens occasionally on the weekends. There used to be a "long-term debt" issue that would cause that, but I believe that's been fixed....:up:

GpuGrid just went through hell again, but seems to have climbed back out of it. It's similar to the F@H roller coaster....

Probably the best place to get up to speed and keep tabs on what's going on is the GpuGrid Nvidia forums (http://www.gpugrid.net/forum_forum.php?id=1).

One of the biggest differences that I have found between F@H and GpuGrid is at GpuGrid--the admin listen and they are a hard working group of folks. :up:

yeah, I got both of my win7 rigs working on the x64 boinc client.. but I never could get the xp32 voinc 32 client to download, it just kept spitting back that "no cuda device" error.

I'm still folding on the gpu's, I only have the gtx260 on the grid right now and haven't decided what I'm gonna move to gpugrid. I'm gettin kinda bored with fah.. I already switched all my smp clients to wcg.. that's when I started looking at gpugrid --->after I saw the gpu checkbox in the boinc client.

what other projects use gpu in the boinc client?

F@H, GpuGrid, Seti, MW (Milky Way), and I think Einstein either has a client or they are still working on it. <--same with The Lattice Project. MW takes ATI cards...not sure about Nvidia.

I recently upgraded my x2 4600 rig to a x4 810, and installed xp64 this time. and gpugrid runs fines on the gts250's. so I have a gtx260 and 2 gts250's on gpugrid.

the other 2 gts250's on my main rig are on fah gpu... for some reason I keep getting compute errors on my main rig gpugrid, and it goes into not accepting new work on one of the gts250's, and it alternates back and forth bt the cards. but I use that machine a lot and record tv in it, so it may be interacting with what I'm doing and causing gpugrid instability. fah gpu folds fine on them though. I do have to stop -gpu 0 when I'm watching media center. anyway, I need to keep those 2 on fah so my fah points dont zero out.

right now I have 3 quads on wcg, and 3 gpu's on gpugrid, and 2 gpu's on fah. and the points are starting to accumulate. I've only been on boinc about a week, and my allprojects sig shows the points.

All definitely sounds good, Mike! :up: Just keep in mind that the 250's are what? Rebadged 9800's? They are getting to be pretty weak cards for GpuGrid. Don't get me wrong, I'm still running 6x 8800GSs and they are in the same ballpark. But GpuGrid has been having the most issues with lower end cards....and, somehow, I don't think that's really going to change. Again: Don't get me wrong...they are working to keep the lower end cards in the game, but, somehow, I think it's going to play out to be a losing battle over the long haul.

I'm not interested in upgrading until at least after the 300's come out, so I'll just keep limping along with what I've got....or switch them to F@H if it becomes necessary. :up:

Team score: +250K today! :woot::woot::woot:
