In short: eSATA does not work in combination with UD5
I tried 3 methods:
1. eSATA bracket as delivered with my mobo. This does not work. I can't see the drive.
2. Using a SATA to eSATA cable. This does not work. I can't see the drive. The same cable with the same drive works on my Opteron (ASUS mobo).
3. eSATA port of my case. This does not work. I can't see the drive (and anything behind it, higher port number).
The drive works on a different pc or via usb on any pc. It works directly on SATA on any pc as well (UD5 as well).
Does anyone know what the cause can be (not working eSATA)?
note: The pc is not overclocked while testing
