all, I can say I was speechless when I saw it...
what is there really to say?

I wonder how well the one in kunaak's post performs?

They've been around a while now Bro, but I haven't seen anyone in here post any results yet. Wild looking thing!:D

the design is ingenious, bc you can have one fan blowing in and one blowing out, cooling++

unless the heat doesn't travel up the heatpipe well, then it performs like crap, but I'd like to see a review.

i'll try to compare it with an SLK800

even more ingenious when it cracks your core, wont fit because of psu, and when it looks like a chod inside a computer

the PR from aerocool was at millian man lan back in june and had a few of these she gave away. Unfortunately i wasnt one of the lucky ones to get to try it out.

all you need to fit that thing is a bigger case, just think of the possibilities. It could pose as a makeshift x-mass tree.

No chance in hell you'll be seeing that thing in my rig.:toast:

I'm having problems taking it seriously actually.

You'd have to either prop it up somehow or leave your case on the side. The SLK-900A has problems with making poor contact on the core due to uneven weight distribution, just imagine that thing!

I haven't seen any shots of it's base, i wonder how quality that is....i think i'll stick with the slk-900.:toast:

It looks about the same as my SLK-800, which means it's basically the same as your SLK-900.

It's nice to see another SF member wandering around here;)

Just imagineā€¦ If any of the lugs broke off, it would wreak havoc in your case.

u might wanna light it up so nearby planes will see it and avoid it. would it be possible to have three fans on it (3 blowing air into it, 1 sucking it out)? imagine if they were deltas, thatd be loud.

I think I read it somewhere it works better when both fans are blowing in.... I might be wrong though...

Problem solved.....run caseless!

I wanna see it in comparison to the 947u, along with a little info on how safe it is, heh. That thing looks very capable of shattering an AMD core :(

Do a google search on "AeroCool Deep Impact 102" and translate the third and fourth hits. It can't even beat a SLK-800.:slapass:

air cooling is insane!!

ok, have it so that the bottom fan is blowing out, and the top fan in, so they provide lift. :D if they both blow in, turn the bottom one around, as then it would be blowing out. ;)

EDIT: just realized they go sideways... im sure that can be fixed. :D

EDIT2: yea, it looks like you could unscrew the silver thing on the side, and rotate it 90 degrees. then get one of the fan things that lets you put a 120mm fan on a 92mm base, or whatever size it is, and put it in.

He is surely joking and you must admit that is one WEIRD POS!

Considering the initial cooler of the thread, those do perform rather well while they are not the best, however their thermal barrier is extremely high and can't be broken. That is, they can absorve a d@mn lot of heat without temperatures going sky high or by using very high powered fans.

...of course, I really don't think that the thermal barrier of most Thermalright heatsinks can be broken by any conventional CPU anyway since it would requite 100w+ heat load at least even by using a medium fan, but thats just me.

ok, the original HS posted in this thread would seem downright scary to hang on the socket clips....since it's so tall (or long when mounted on a mobo and mounted in a case), it's gotta put an incredible amount of stress on the socket clips....heck, i had some serious issues with an slk 900a (the clip on one) because the bottom of the core reeived all the contact pressure from the heatsink, the top of the core got all the excess thermal paste shoved up into it, and my tems were downright scary (64C  )...tried mounting the sucker like 8 times too....

I think it would take quite a bit more than that.

Our overclocked P4's put out that much heat.

there is a 150mm fan with 260 cfm's over at frozencpu.com.. i was thinking of getting 2 of those with 2 adapters and hooking them to a dual fan heatsink, but the link to buy doesnt work, and i cant find any others. any clues?

Dood...can you imagine how loud 2 of those fans would be?:bsod:

The weight that they will add on the socket and the air pressure don't worry you a little bit?:p:

And they won't even fit. You can't use even 120mm fan adapters on the sides of those heatsinks, they will hit the motherboard.

Check out the new quiet fans at JMC. They sent me a 92mm to check out, but it just came today.

ah fine.. i guess ill just get some good heatsink and pop the 150 on the top of it, 260 cfms should suffice, no?
