I have searched on here and if I didn't find it and it's there then I profusely apologize.

I'm still working on Project Obsessed (yes I'm not dead, just had school finals and family and work and everything else).

I have the Nickel Plated EK 4870 512MB FC Waterblock.

I'm wondering if this thing will fit on the 4890 1GB card?

I have seen them side by side and it looks like everything that would be covered on the 4870 will be covered on the 4890 by the FC WB.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I've been asking myself the same question... and since the PCB is about the same, the mouting holes are exactly the same, I guess it should fit but we won't know unless you try, right? ;)

You can buy a 4890 specific full cover block though from EK - why would they not just make it 4870/4890 instead then? Don't think itll work personally, but wishing you luck anyway. Just be careful, 0.5mm more or less height on a component somewhere could mean disaster.

Doesnt Koolance have a 4870/4890 combo block? If they do it should answer the question.

Visually inspected today, the blocks are the same and 4870 block will fit the 4890. I have pics but they need to be processed and I am still trying to unpack from school and a whole bunch of other crap

Spot the difference.... think I got them all ;). Don't think the gpu contact area rotation will matter much, but check the other stuff to make sure it clears.

If you thinking use the universal water block on it, you can use the Swiftech MCW60 with your 4890. Maybe it has an equipment for 4890 but it should match with it.

Cheers

Hah! no worries. Starting monday, I'm going to be working in cali for a week, don't worry.
I haven't even gotten my other blocks plated yet..
I suppose I can attempt the nickel dip again... damn caswell kit. I should of gone with electroless plating... Normal electroplating gives the nickel a more muted look.. I believe eddy puts a brightener/chromer in there.

you haven't quite got it right mate, the 4870 block looks different because it has an alu VRM plate. with respect to the 4870 block (which is actually a 4850/4870 block) all the mounting holes of the 4890 block are in the right place for the 4870. the gpu rotation is no biggie and the spot where the 4890 block differs in milling isnt even on the 4870 block (covers empty PCB)

Thanks snipe and everyone else. At least if I get the 4890 I can use the nickel block I already got from you snipe. Didn't want my trade going to waste.

?

Available since almost two months now ;)
It's also downwards compatible to the initial reference layout of the HD4870 (the other way around it won't work).

There is also a type 2 variant available for that layout which is used by PowerColor for example.
