Sorry if this post is in the wrong forum but I noticed Newegg has the Hyper-X PC 3500 Memory on sale today only at $120 for a 512mb stick. Seemed like a good deal to me so i thought I would pass it on.

speaking of hyper-x.. i finally found a norwegian store that sells it, but they have ddr400, 433 and 500. Is 500 worth it, or can my future intel rig go far enough with less?

Kingston HyperX PC3500 (CH-5) for $120/512MB

or

Mushkin PC3200 Black Level 1 (CH-5) for $117/512MB

Not much of sale for HyperX PC3500. NewEgg's 1-Day sales are a joke, compared to their unmentioned price droppings. Mushkin has better support then Kingston.

Neither will out-overclock BH-5 memory, in most conditions.

Speaking of the Mushkin 3500 Level 2 at Newegg; Is the 2 x 512 for 290USD BH-5?

Oh, btw the PC4000 is in fact garbage as my 2x256 of XMS4000 is on it's way back to Newegg right now. It's Hynix, SPD 3-4-4-8, and I suppose you might do better with more voltage but I'm a bare bones IC7 owner so 2.8 vdimm is it.

On a whim I ran over to Best Buy on my lunch break. They had Hyper-X PC3500 (CL2) for $104 after rebate for a 512mb stick so I grabbed one. I'll fire it up tonight and see how it is.

Yes please post back on how that Hyper X 3500 memory does for you, I'm calling my local Best Buy now to see if they have that same memory in stock.

my mushkin black lvl1 is actually bh-5. i got so lucky...got a 512(2x256mb) pc3500 dual chan kit for $140 heres the proof

Nick,

If the modules you got really are Level 1 modules then they would actually use the Winbond CH-5 chips on them. However, that part number you gave me was actually from before we separated the lines into Level 1 and Level 2, and those modules would have used Winbond BH-5's. Also, due to the performance you're getting out of them, I am 99% confident that they are Winbond BH-5 chips. The CH-5 chips cannot do a RAS to CAS setting of 2 even at 200mhz, so it is extremely unlikely that those are the chips you have. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
Beau

Mind telling us whether the label stated 2.5V or 2.6V? If it stated 2.5V, it would mean that it was an older module from before the switch over to CH-5, meaning you probably have BH-5. If it's 2.6V, then you got CH-5, and good luck with your overclock :)

You got lucky by purchasing it from a online reseller that probably didn't have many purchasing Mushkin memory from them. Best Buy use to be like this too, selling BH-5 memory labled "Mushkin Black", but I'm pretty sure that they are selling a CH-5 product now.

I believe it is 2.6v but personally with my CPU I doubt I'll get much more than 230 FSB out of it so I think this memory may work well for my situation.

Currently running at 233 2.0-3-3-3cl - 2cmd running 3312/3323 in Sandra. Haven't tried anything faster than that yet but it doesn't seem to like to boot at 2.5 at all or anything other than 1:1 ratio. Any suggestions?
