View Full Version : Why is Silverstone TJ07 considered best WC case? Don't get it.

It appears to be a good WC case at a quick glance but as I studied more thoroughly. It doesn't appear to be a good alternative for people with multiple hard drive and dvd-rom.

If you put 3x120mm radiator at the bottom where do you fit all those hard drives. I have to use at least 4 hard drives and 2 DVD drives. All the screen shots I see in this forum showing WC TJ07 do not show hard drives? Maybe a one drive under 5.25" inch bay?

Perhaps, I may be wrong but I do not find TJ07 to be ideal for me.

it's got 7x external 5" bays, you can use a 3 bay to 4hdd converter, and 2 dvd drives and you'd still have 2x 5"bays left over

I currently have a PA120.3 on the bottom of my TJ07 so I have my 4 harddrives (74GB, 320GB, 750GB, 1TB) and my 2 DVD drives in the 5.25" bays :)

It is very easy to mount multiple drives in the 5.25" bays - there are 7 available bays so even if you used individual mounts instead of a 4 in 3 bay adapter you could have 5 hdd's and 2 optical drives. edit - damn beaten to it

The main reason lots of people like the TJ07 of wc is that it is one of the very few cases that require next to no modding to setup a wc build. I mean there are not many cases that can take both a quad and dual rads straight off the shelf without some significant mods done to it.

But to each their own...I know I am loving mine :yepp:

are there mounting holes on the bottom for a quad rad? what spacing? 15mm (swiftech/feser/xspc)

no mounting, just secure the rad on its side, commonly on some sort of spacer from the bottom of the case.

what Sniipe said - most of use some sort of spacer to lift the rad up to the right height to align with the vents for the lower compartment so you can get maximum airflow coverage on the rads

Ok, tks guys..I may have spoken too fast without actually having the case...

I am thinking about choosing between TJ07 and CM ATCS840 now.

Actually, I may need...

- 5 HD bay - 1 hard drive (2TB WD) + 4 SSDs using 3.5" adapters
- 2 DVD bay
- 2 additional 5.25" bay for reservoir (if I can't only have 2 bays, maybe a thinner reservior).

Perhaps, I can work out with TJ07 but with CM ATCS840 I can attach triple radiator on top and still maintain all the drive bays.
But then I do not like the fact that CM ATCS840 seems to be using tin foil looking metal inside the case. Otside looks solid but the inside
metal looks just awful.

4 ssd's fit into 1 5.25" bay.....

and the ATCS is an aluminum case, its stamped and its very sturdy all around....

you'll need to cut the top if you're to place the 120x3 rad top

actually any casing can be watercool, the trick is to DIY and diy is really tiring and exhausive though

yep, there are rarely any cases that require no cutting. The silverstone TJ09 and TJ10 have brackets you can use to mount a 240 rad up top, and I think the Cosmos can have a triple or double mounted up top.

As for hdd and such

1 bay for ur 2TB
1 bay for 4ssds
2 bays for optical
2 bays for ur res
u still got another free

if you intend to mount a triple rad on top without any mods take a look at the HAF932, this full tower has lots of room to play with as well.

i like the tj07, i was very temped to get one, but the lain Li V2000B is such a nice case, no modding needed, you can straight away fit in two quads in the bottom AND it has 7 HDD bays....anything more you could want??

I have 4 hdds mounted in one of these:

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Silverstone-SST-CFP51B-Aluminum-Bay-converter-3x525-to-4x35-in-Black-with-120mm-Fan-RoHS

Which works fine. You can even replace the 120mm fan with your prefered model.

And my tc 360 rad is 'mounted' on 2 bits of packing foam cut to the right size.

I've got a PA120.3 in the basement, 4x 2.5" (2x SSD, 2x 7200RPM) drives velcro'ed to the back of my motherboard tray, a 5.25" optical drive, and a Black Ice Pro II in the bottom 6 5.25" bays with mesh bay covers.

It's an excellent water cooling case :)

It really is a fantastic watercooling case and it looks great. It's a shame it's so crazy expensive, otherwise I would have bought it. As such, I'm happy with my Cosmos S.
