Hi,

When I first tested my system open box, I used a Thermalright Ultra 120 4 pipe cooler and I briefly tested my load temps and I remember they peaked at 52 C. Now same setup except maybe I'm running the ram at 1600 and not 1067, and my temps are peaking at 49 C. I kind of expected better temps as I have a XPSC RX360 rad with 6 fans of assorted rpms running on it. The thermalright had a weak 120mm fan running and it was real close to my water temps and I even have more noise from all the fans!

Ambient around 19 C.

Remount.

How much thermal gunk did you put on?

Did you remove the clear protective plastic from the block? I have to ask, as I've seen it done.

How much have you overclocked? I am assuming not very.

Those temps don't seem too off. At stock settings you won't see much difference. It isn't until you actually start to push your OC that WCing will start making a big difference. The key thing to remember is that with anything using ambient air for cooling is that you will be limited by them so the temps won't always be drastically lower. WCing just has the advantage of having the capacity to deal with more heat so that as you increase thermal output it will effect your CPU temps less than with air.
