Everything comes together perfectly! Except maybe the 3.5" fan controller. Consider an brushed aluminum front plate for it perhaps?

Glad you like it :D. Modding on a budget. :P

It is anodised black brushed metal too. Perhaps not the same grain as the casing alu. Under certain lighting it does stick out as different. Will have to see if I can source for spare Lian Li faceplates.

No problem. I am hoping I can save up enough money to do a build sometime this year but I doubt it since I leave for OCS at the end of the year. I love seeing people do build like this that are clean and creative.

That cigarette looking thing is actually a straw. He had to obtain all minerals and nutrients via fluids. Anyway, the build looks really nice and very clean. I love how people can make such amazing things with the old Lian-Li's.

One question, what is the purpose of the downward pointing vent on the psu? :)

I would like to know, what is that black thing did you use on the sides, up and down inside the case? Is some noise filetering or what?
Thanks in advance.

And... which lian li is it?
Is gorgeous

Yep its my almost 3 year old TRU. Only with this I can mount it this direction on AM3 using the S-clip. Glad you like it :D

awesome work dude

Took me abit a research to find the correct sleeves where I live and abit of a learning curve and lots of sweat to get it to where it is now. Have to celebrate the cables rather than hide them. :)

Hahaha glad that my life support hasn't given up on me yet :P. Working with a budget and old parts I had lying around and trying my best not to cut up my entire casing. I am trying to mod as much without "shopping for my mod".

Thank you, I am glad you love it. :)

Thats from Silverstone. Its padded on the inside and deadens the noise from the PSU. Something you can test by draping a towel over the back of your PSU. It actually works.

Oh baby

No doubt :D

The black stuff along the walls are acoustic foam. You're right about what they're for. For the past few years I have focused on building a good performance PC while keeping the noise down.

The case comes from the legendary (I feel) line of PC-7s (7A, 7B, 7B-Plus etc etc). It still exists today as PC-007.

what are the fans you have on the TRUE? I just got 2 Lian Li cases and looooooove them. though I feel I need to do a bit of modding on 1 because the 80 fan slot on the back is too small. Looks beautiful!!

I got them made at a local trophy/plaque maker.

The fans are from Silverstone. http://www.silverstonetek.com/products/p_contents.php?pno=FN121-BL&area=usa
They are reasonably quiet and have a nice blue glow for a little lighting fun. :)

Hope I dont disappoint. Its almost complete, I am just at the stage where I'm tweaking it.

Its done on brushed metal. I suppose alot of people probably thought it was done on special textured paper or plastic but I assure you it was all done on brushed metal, not sure if its aluminium or mild steel plates though.

Things have been going slow but here are some updates! Sorry for messy photos, was a quickie shoot.

Looky what have we here?!
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46/entropicity/DSCF3871.jpg

What a mess!
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46/entropicity/DSCF3881.jpg

Thats it, cleaned up followed shortly with some Ceramique treatment (tested with Furmark. Old temps idle/load: 58/79 | New temps idle/load: 50/74, does not go over 60 degrees in normal gaming)
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46/entropicity/DSCF3885.jpg

One more PCIE uni-sleeved cable added.

Thanks guys :D

Here's a minor followup over the weekend. This time installing custom modified ramsinks.

Before
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46/entropicity/DSCF3881.jpg

After (Ramsinks, custom cut sizes and fin height)
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46/entropicity/DSCF3915.jpg

After (Cant escape Uni-sleeving)
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46/entropicity/DSCF3916.jpg

Installed

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46/entropicity/DSCF3926.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46/entropicity/DSCF3924.jpg

Result: Idle memory temps dropped about 3 degrees to low 40s. Load temps dropped 10 degrees from high 70s to high 60s. Interesting side-effect is that the power area temps dropped from 100 degrees to low 90s during load. I re-verified by running my load testing a couple more times and for a longer duration.

Possible follow up: mosfet sinks??

I think it is pretty poor that Asus didn't have any sinks on them.

Thanks guys, still trying to improve it. Hearing your comments keeps me going. :)

I think it is pretty poor that Asus didn't have any sinks on them.

Considering the card is supposed to be a "premium" version I am surprised too. However considering the temps before and after the ramsinks were applied, I can understand why they might have discounted it.

More progress needed :p:

I suspect Matrix versions arent used on the highest end cards but on second tier cards that can be overclocked to top tier performance. We have 4850, 9600 and now the gtx260. Also Matrix cards tend to be released later in each product cycle so as not to shaft their earlier models.
